Don't Forget - Cut Off is July 11th For Signup

Hope we have a good turnout for this event.

The promoters of this event are really looking forward to your input for events and formats.

This tournament is designed for the players and what you think really does matter.

9-ball

For the Fall 9-ball event I see that it is currently scheduled for triple elimination (from SWEL site). I suggest backing that up to double otherwise the person that loses in the first round is going to go broke before they get in the money. Maybe make the races a tad longer if coin drop is a worry, just be a bit flexible and base it on number of entrants.

I didn't do the math that close, but I lost my first match in Feb and won the triple elimination tourney (my first big win!) and still made money. Would it be different for 9ball?

Everything is up for discussion

You need to voice your concerns to the promoters in July if you're going to attend.

Triple elimination is a double edge sword for ther player, low ranking players like it cuz they get to play more and somehow they think it gives them an extra chance. Better players hate it cuz it takes longer (Read: costs more) meaning less profit.

The promoter needs it to pay for the large amount of table brought in.

I'm sure if the numbers are up there for players they will scale it back.

Darn right you made money......a killing.

What time should I tell the I.R.S. to call :p

Robbie told me he finished in the money and didn't make jack squat at Winstar....??? I'm just curious to see what percentages other directors are using when they're making money off the tables to...How do you adjust the payout from that?

I really enjoyed the tournament - it was interesting to play in a triple elimination tournament because it was different than any other I had played in. :) It was quite fun!

It sounds cool...How does the tripplle elimination work though...I know about the normal double elimination but how does the third bracket area fit in with the other two? I mean how do you put them together in the end...hats off to you it seems like a lot of work..

I just played in it and tried to find my name on the charts. I believe they were BCA charts, though. So, there are triple elimination charts out there to use.

I don't believe the TD is making any money off the tables. Running an event with tables brought in, is completely different from promoting a pool hall and using their tables.

Even your event,26 of 32 people made (0), and 2 more only got their entry back. If you get 1st or 2nd you get a very nice payday.Otherwise, "Jack Squat" might apply.

Having a good time is most important. Find you a little action or hit the challenge table for some fun! Mini tournaments too!

I heard the A/C at the E-Center is working very well too!

That's not what I said Ray

I was asking because it's different running that type of event and I know the tables have to be paid for ...but obviously there is a set plan in general I was just asking how it worked...thanks

1. The SWEL tournament is a "End of year tournament" held only for the players that play for SWEL. This tournament is totally different from SWEL or the BCA State tourney. The only connection is they have Robert Tabor involved and they all use the BCA set of rules

2. My understanding of the tournament process is (and I could be wrong): Table provider comes in with 40 or 60 tables or whatever at a set price. Promoter advertises the entry fee along with any registration fee. The amount that goes to prize fund is always what's advertised as entry fee. If the tables are played enough to cover the table owner, then any extra is either split or given to the promoter and becomes "Added money". If the tables don't get played enough to cover, then no added money and the promoter has to use part of the "Registration Fee" to cover it and in some cases could get stuck making nothing or even owing money at the end of the day.

I have no details on the SWEL tourney, maybe the promoter got stuck owing Winstar money for nights at the rooms that the player didn't stay at and the promoter was on the hook for?

I don't know and niether do you and this is a thread about SWAT, not SWEL

I just asked because tabor was mentioned and Doesn't it also cost like a dollar a game or was that BCA? I'm curious I've heard different things and if I get to make it to one of these I would like to know..I'm sorry for the confussion I'm just not sure which event to recall

I can tell you how it ran twice this year.

At the SWAT tourney there are multiple boards and everybody starts on the same one...I think. Tabor uses a spreadsheet with labels that telss where the winner and loser go. Then he manually posts it on the boards.

At the ACS......that was an event for the ages.
1. The had one big board, with mutiple groups all going from left to right
2. They screwed it up so bad that our team played a team with a loss in our second round
3. Somewhere in the middle of the second round we noticed that one bracket designed for the 2 loss teams had no 3rd bracket to go to.

The people running the tournament all sat around doing the a " Hear, Speak or See no evil" routine until a player came up and fixed it.

I've seen it done right and wrong.

I know you guys will do well you always and I wasn't trying to knock your tournament I was just asking mainly about the triple elimination....sounded confussing like you said

All $1

All the events using Diamond Smart tables are the token "coins" which cost $1

Tabor?

So Tabor was mentioned.....what does that have to do with anything?
Any tournament I officiated for him was always run properly....so what exactly are you getting at?

Could your sudden interest in this thread have to do with the fact it's the same weekend as your shindig??

Never fear Mr. Ballas, some of your usual entries might play in this but quite a few could not unless they entered the master division. They don't have to be a "Registered Master Player" to get the tag. BOKA (Based on Known Ability). Mr Tabor decided to tag several players with that at his last tournament.

I think that there are quite a few tournaments lately and finding dates without conflicts are getting harder and harder.

If you want to try knocking this tournament so you make it over your 32 hump just say so, cuz your questions indicate you are.

Try being less transparent
