Ric,

It was said because you are coming off as abrasive and strickly business! You should lighten up a little and leave out the snips. IT needed to be said.

You are not having fun, and it comes across in your posts.

Ray

Let's play nice boys.

Ric is having fun and he has a very dry sense of humor.

Let's keep this on topic (The Tournament) and keep the quibbling (Is that a word) in PM's

Good Job!

With your schedule, I think you've stayed at most of them :)

Correction?

I didn't get the email from the BCA about this event, so I do not know if a follow-up email was sent to mention it is now 8ball and that singles starts Saturday morning.

Can someone verify a correction was emailed? If not, can we get confirmation that someone is contacting the BCA about this to get a correction sent back out? AND that the BCA website will be updated with the correct info?

I'm not trying to be nosey, I'm trying to help. I think it's vital that the correct information gets out. The reasons - we will lose participation if players think singles starts on Friday night (we learned that from the past events) and a lot of people will be surprised when they show up to play 9ball and it's really 8ball.

Thanks!

Info on www.playbca.com is Correct

The information about the Southwest Amateur Tournament October event is correct on the playbca web site. Here's the link again:

http://www.playbca.com/Events/UpcomingEvents/tabid/204/Default.aspx

Also when I click on the Entry Form it comes up, so I'm not sure why some people are having troubles.

I also rec'd the initial email from BCA Pool Leagues stating the incorrect information. I have not rec'd a corrected email though. I will check with Tabor to make sure they send out a corrected email.

Hope to see all you pool maniacs there. It is an awesome tournament.

I'm glad the info on the BCA website is correct now. I read a post that said it wasn't, so this is good news!

I think a corrected email would be a very good thing to do, so thanks for talking to Tabor about that!

Dragon Cue - I can get the form, also. PM me your email address and I can email you the form.

Thanks, Moni!

List the names of the entries!

I think if you list the names of the entries, it would help promote the tournament. If you see a friends name that you haven't seen at tournaments in a while, it would encourage you too enter just too see them. Also, I don't want to send in money and not have enough entries to hold a tournament, then wait for a refund and possibly miss another tournament.

Sorry

1. Sorry but I don't think that's going to happen. The people running this tournament are busy and I wouldn't expect them to take the time to produce a list of entrants.

I have only seen that done at the Nationals.

2. If you and everyone else take that approach "I don't want to send in money and not have enough entries to hold a tournament, then wait for a refund and possibly miss another tournament" , it risks putting the tourney in jeapordy. That's what a lot of people did last time and the TD decided that they were not going to have enough entries in time to make a decision about bringing the tables in.

I understand what you mean by the TD's being busy, but with gas prices going back up and travel plans it would be nice to plan in advance. I think that is all everyone is really wanting to know besides seeing friends and etc...

Thanks your friendly TD Rack'em.

Who do you think get hurt the most if a tournament doesn't make?

I stand corrected

I just spoke with the TD's and they will have the BCAPL send out a new corrected email concerning the starting times and format....possibly as early as tomorrow.

They have also agreed that they will try to put out a list (I will post it here as well as the BCAPL website) of entries as they come in, so that people will be able to see who is signed up.

But to make my point, Zach doesn't do it, Ray doesn't do it. The Fast Eddies doesn't and the only names I saw posted for the Texas Open were the high profile names. I'm not saying it's not a good idea, I'm just saying none of the other tournaments that I've looked at post entry names so why would you expect this one to do it?

Players and.......?

I know where you're going with this. Of course the players get hurt emotionally. They were all gassed up and ready to go play, they possibly changed plans to go....may have reserved a hotel room etc., etc..

The other side of that is (Which a lot of players don't think about) who else gets hurt?

The table provider, who set aside tables for the event and may have even cancelled an event just to do this one. His employees who come in and setup and maintain the tables throughout the event. The fuel bill for the tables that is now going to be hard to pay if there is a low turnout or no tournament.

The venue, who could have scheduled a different event, all of their employees that thought they were going to be working from Thursday night thru Sunday night.

The TD, that may be on the hook for thousands of dollars to the venue for a cancelled event (If the contract stated there was a time limit to cancel), or to the hotel for rooms that now will not be needed.

So to finally answer your original question.....I think pool gets hurt the most. Everybody suffers, but pool takes the hit.

It's in eveyones interest to make this tournament a success.

The players will have more chances to play in a big tournament atmosphere
The table provider and TD will be able to hold this tournament more often if they don't go broke trying to have them
The venue will be more willing to accept pool tournaments if the ones it does host are successful

Just my humble opinion Papa Red

It's the game that that gets hurt the most. It gets a bad image from the sponsors, hotels, and no one wants too sponsor or allow their banquet room the availability for a pool tournament.

My appologies to all,

I would like to apologize to all concerned, I don't mean too come across as ragging or negative to anyone, I'm just concerned about the sport I love an want to see it improve it's image. This game has been around as long as golf or bowling and we still can't seem to change the image, but we still have more participants than either of them.
