Southwest Amateur Tournament - Temple TX 17-19 OCT

I would like to apologize to all concerned, I don't mean too come across as ragging or negative to anyone, I'm just concerned about the sport I love an want to see it improve it's image. This game has been around as long as golf or bowling and we still can't seem to change the image, but we still have more participants than either of them.

No reason to apologize for being passionate!

While I think a list of names might be helpful, it wont hurt the tournament if we don't have a list.

I also think plans can be made to go and if they cancel, then we can simply cancel the plans.

Things happen all the time and we are flexible. Just my opinion, of course.

I say we all tell everyone we can about this tournament and sign up! LOL. I know, sounds so easy. lmao!

I think I'm confused

It's the game that that gets hurt the most. It gets a bad image from the sponsors, hotels, and no one wants too sponsor or allow their banquet room the availability for a pool tournament.

I think that's what i said.....;) If you read my entire post :D

I love the game too.....that's why I'm helping to publicize this event

The Names Will Be Listed

Papa Red said:
I think if you list the names of the entries, it would help promote the tournament. If you see a friends name that you haven't seen at tournaments in a while, it would encourage you too enter just too see them. Also, I don't want to send in money and not have enough entries to hold a tournament, then wait for a refund and possibly miss another tournament.

Here are the confirmed entries as of noon today. As you can see, there are alot of people (Including me) that still have not signed up. Signing up early (Rather than the last minute) will ensure that the TD's know if they have enough to warrant bringing in Diamond tables from Vegas.

Tommy Patino Jauton Sanchez
Robert B Tabor Kim Pierce

Tommy Patino

Phillip Pensabene

Waiting For The Last Minute

This post has 2000 views as of this morning and I know a ton of players know about it.

I'll assume that everybody is waiting till the last minute.

I hope this isn't the case, since as I explained earlier in this thread people need to know as far in advance as possible if this will be a go.

Tables brought in, the venue, etc., etc..

I urge everyone, if you are going to sign up, please do it as soon as possible.

Thanks

Steve,

If the event can't go without earlier entry than asked for, why not make the cutoff earlier?

Anything deadline or earlier should be fine, right?

Ray,

As you know I don't run this tourney. You have a good point and maybe the tournament deadline should be 2 weeks out and not 1?

I know that the last one (Which was cancelled) had a deadline that fell on a Monday. They looked at the numbers on Friday and from previous experience knew they were not going to get enough by Monday to make it a go. They cancelled it that Friday.

Of course some players complained that they should have waited until Monday. These were probably the people that waited until the last minute.

That's why I urged everyone to sign up ASAP. If it's a go....good, if not then everyone has ample time to do other things.

As long as people get it postmarked on 10 OCT or ealier.....it's all good

No need to mail in the form, also - just use the comments section when you paypal the money, so they know which division you are signing up for.

Hey aka.

I love this tournament - center of the state. And for the size of Texas - that's even better! :)

Pay my entry for me please. I'll pay you Saturday.

Thanks,
