why are most all sw cues so butt heavy.. Is there a way to lighten the cues butt weight up?

Thanks

it's caused by the natural balance that sw uses.

The cue balances nicely @ 18.5", and feels "light" in your hands while stroking.

Yes, the butt could be lightened by taking some wood out of the backend, but there is no bolt like in other cues.

That is one the characteristics of SW. Then you would not have a SW... ;)
Marcus, either is your camera way to good or the wood on the SW almost looks like pau ferro as well.
Good luck with sale. Today, this is like a teaser to me. 2 of my favorite SW's on AZ

I'M NOT SURE WHAT THE BROWN WOOD IS. PAU FERRO OR ALVES..... EITHER WAY, IT'S A BAD ASS CUE.

Marcus

It's alves......

I HAD TO KNOW, SO I SENT AN E-MAIL AND ASKED.

I ASKED LAURIE WHAT WOOD THE CUE WAS, AND THIS IS WHAT SHE REPLIED.....

"Hello Marcus

#323 06 is Birdseye maple nosepiece < 6 points Goncalo Alves; white & black veneers. Base is also Alves.

The cue left here in July of 2006 at 19.5 oz with 2 - 13.125mm shafts.

Best Regards, Laurie Franklin"

SO, THERE WE HAVE IT.

Laurie is just the best, she has been my friend for over 20 years. She is so awesome to keep Jerry's work going on just like he was with us. I really admire that, she is a very strong woman. Thats passion and dedication that most people dont posess, a ton of heart. Oh the cues are pretty good too ;).

This is a great cue, they never ever wear out I have seen some SW's with 10-15 years of daily play on them and they are still 100%. I played with mine for 7 years(I was playing part time at home then, out of the "scene")), I have another one I still use sometimes I bought in 86 for $350 delivered. LOL imagine that. JCIN from TAR wants it, but that cue is family and will never be sold.

sw cue

Not as fancy as some you have had but this one is certainly classy. Amazing Alves, simple elegance and the price is the best I've seen lately. This one should've been gone in a heart beat!

i thought it was......

It's really a great cue in person. And you're right, the alves in this cue is very nice. Not washed out like some i have seen.

SW Cue

As you know Marcus, the last SW I received from SW with all the rings was $2475 after an almost 10 yr wait. To be honest it had an ebony nose and matching joint protectors. So you couldn't buy this cue from SW today for what you're asking and would still have to wait 10+ years. If I didn't have so many SW's I would have jumped on this one.
