Who collects Southwests, serious collectors?

Is this a serious question?

That's like asking "Who eats clams? Serious seafood lovers?"

The only answer is "those who want them". Apparently there are a "serious" amount of those out there....

Many SW collectors out there. There are at least one or two
people that have 100 cues, give or take, in their collection.
I think I've owned a dozen, seven is the most I've had at one
time and now I'm down to only three. It would be hard to put
an actual number on SW collectors for me, but I'd say there'd
be many. Why do you ask, OP?

SW cues has made 10000 cues since inception! So, I guess you can say somewhere up to 10k people.
Serious and other wise

What year did they start? 1982 -- so 33 years and with your 10,000 number you are stating they make 300 cues a year????

That's what a lot of other folks say they make....shhhhhhhh, the IRS may be listening ;)

That might be accurate.

I think there are more Balabushka cues than George ever made.

IMO, the easiest cue to copy.

Wasn't there discussion on the numbering of the Pins - starting at 300 -- each year
someone show me one with a pin #600 plus.

If my info is correct, 300+ are pronged cues and cues with 600+ are fancy inlaid cues...

Ok, show me one with a number in the 500s .... cause they don't do many fancy inlaid cues.

I'd guess the 500"s are reserved for pronged cues... They may not get that high but just in case... Not really sure call Laurie

I don't have to call Laurie cause as I posted, I asked her -- she said the most they ever made was about 240 in a year and it is normally between 150-200.

But maybe she is wrong when someone throws out a number like 10,000 cues made.

Of course she's not wrong. AND Correct. So if their cues start numbering each year at 300 and they made 240 one year the last cue # from that year would be 540 or 541 depending whether the first cue is 300 or 301. Since they make between 150 and 200 that could take them into the 500 numbering. That's why I said their fancy cue may start at 600 for each year... As for someone thinking they have made 10,000 cues, they haven't...

Who collects Southwests, serious collectors?

depends, SW cues are mostly used by players that like the hit. Some SW are very collectible because of the rarity of, woods, era, and some unique designs.

SW holds their value better than any other cues out there, sans cues from very very limited numbers IE - Szam, Searings, Peterson, Black Boars...

I do know this...serious players use SW more than any other custom cues... in Asia anyways.
