Southwest

It’s only a list. Didn’t cost anything. If my name never gets called so be it. No harm no foul
I believe this is the reason their business model hasn't imploded. No one on the list gives a crap if they ever get one. Not really

Those that want one buy from the flippers. Either way SW gets the short end of the stick.

Meantime they just keep churning them out on their terms and time frame.

Sadly for an item in such demand the supplier will probably die mostly broke.

This is the real tragedy of this business model. It's not business, it's a hobby.

A hobby without a day job to support it.

I'd love to know what percentage of that list turns out to be nonsense because its people who (a) signed up for funsies thinking they'd have the money when it was time and now the rent check is due and they don't have the money or (b) the contact information they signed up with is now dead (c) they themselves are dead.

You are wrong on so many levels. There’s nothing correct about your post. Absolutely nothing.

I was good friends with Jerry since 87 and been going there since. Laurie is a close friend. I know the whole story. It’s been told here many times. I’m not going to tell it again.

Just be certain Laurie wanted to carry Jerry’s legacy forward. It was never about money. She did a brilliant job and has worked her ass off for damn near 30 years.

She’s a amazing person in a tough business

That’s all I have to say

I’ve never talked about there business finances to them. I’ve also never heard a bad word about there business, unusual for cue makers

They employ people including a shop manager.
They charge market value on time of delivery.
They might be slow, but it.is a BUSINESS.
It would have been better if they moved to a more mild climate city, but they made that choice to stay a long time ago.

Well it was a 10 year wait when I signed up and now that wait will be close to 15 years so I’m guessing not to many people are backing out. Granted covid may have held them up a bit.

That’s about where I am, it’s probably going to be 15 or 16 years by the time I get it. Went through the shop with a friend when I was out there for a tournament. I was impressed with the operation and got on the list when I got home.

A couple of years ago I got a satin to hold me over. If I’m half as happy with the cue I end up getting as I am with the satin the wait will have been worth it!

My best guess is 2026 for me. Might be a college graduation present for my grandson.

There is no cost to be on their list for normal production cars-for some cars there is no list.

On Some limited production cars they invite people to the list. You can’t get on the list unless you are invited.

Now you know 💪😃

Jay Leno has spoken about why no Ferrari in his collection. I can't quote exactly,, but got the impression he didn't care for their business practices.

I kinda know Jay, I’ve been in his show once and been to his collection a few times, seen him around many times at various car things in SoCal.

As I recall you are correct. Ferrari has a cult like following of regular customers.

I’ve owned 4 of them over the years. I’ve never been a “Ferrari” guy.

I got on the list in January 2006. I believe the wait at that time was around 7 years. Received two cues June 2022. First time I ordered one of their cues it was a year wait. That was in 1988. I was playing a lot at the time but haven’t played in a long time. Beautiful craftsmanship.

Does anyone know Laurie would tell me how much longer and where I am at on the list if I call? I can’t remember how many years it’s been but I know I got on the list a few years in a row.

I may not have hit the nail on the head but I promise the first two points are spot on.

She may be an amazing person I will take your word on that. Was that in question? Not by me.

Would love to see her tax return. Just to know if that business model feeds the bulldogs or not. I'm skeptical.

Just email her and she’ll tell you what your order date is and what they’re working on now.

So you got on in 2006 and your order has been filled? Did they allow you to order more then one cue?

It’s not about business

It’s not about business
I said it was a "hobby". Where did I go wrong?

Again I wasn't attacking her or her motives. I have never met the lady or her late husband but I have observed the business model over the last 20 years and do not see anything resembling capitalism. That was my only point.
