Southwest

I’m of the belief that you should use the shaft that the custom cue maker provides. I’m not big on third party stuff where a custom cue is concerned.
There's no magic juju in a carbon fiber shaft just because it's new technology and the current rage. It could be good, or it might be a waste of time and money. What is the current total weight of your Lambros in ounces? How about the butt weight and shaft weight separately? Where does it balance?

When someone plays as long as you have there's a lot of feel involved. Not feel for aiming or guessing how to align the CB and OB to make a shot, but FEEL of the cue when playing for fun, playing for money, or playing in a major tournament. Things change when the muscles start tightening throughout the body from pressure and adrenaline. Those who have never been under a lot of pressure have no idea what can happen when the nerve endings feel like they can be jumping out of the skin.

A light carbon fiber shaft vs. a heavier wood shaft can make a big difference in what you feel and how you judge speed under the gun. It'll be different when practicing or playing for fun with someone you know. If you play with an extremely light wood shaft now, the transition would probably be easier. I honestly don't know what weight ranges can be produced for carbon fiber
pool shafts. They're certainly a lot lighter when it comes to a golf shaft but golf pros don't use them in the irons. Only in the driver and fairway clubs to get greater club head speed for distance. I think someone we both know very well got rid of his carbon fiber shafts and went back to good old faithful wood.

I know they are some fine cues, But a freaking 17 year backlog??? Hire some damn people. You can easily weed out crap employees and put very strict quality control on things.
Nothing kills desirability for things like this faster than availability.

Yeah, and he's right.

Ever see a guy with a broomstick beat good players with custom? I have.

Now if you want to buy a high end cue that's great, but don't for a minute think it's going to raise your ability more than a little.
It isn't that he's wrong, it's the fact that it's the oldest worn-out obvious hackneyed analogy that really has no relevance to a discussion about a cue builder's backlog.

I would never wait that long for any cue. I will stick with my Tascarella, I doubt a
southwest plays any better. I have a couple Lambros & Mottey cues that I feel the
same about.
You’ve got some very nice cues. I don’t really think of it as waiting. Name on list. If it comes up and I’m in a position and have a desire to order a real nice cue I go for it.

I’ll let you know. I really haven’t gone the last 11 years since I moved to florida. But went every year before that when I lived in Baltimore. Our crew was actually instrumental in getting Allen to put in extra tables to gamble on years ago. Have some friends to see that I haven’t seen in quite a while so thinking of going this year.
I'll lock up first 3 sets , $500 each with Ideologist...
I need a sparing partner because pool without gambling is like playing hopscotch.
It might even get me to practice a little.

Did you buy those cues used? I know all of those cue makers have or had a significant waiting list.

Tascarella I traded up at SBE 5yrs ago, it was brand new and I traded a Tasc merry widow + cash.
Lambros were all new and took about 1-1 1/2 years. Mottey's were used. I only ever ordered one other
cue, a Lomax J/B 3 month wait, which I sold within 2 weeks. My sledgehammer j/b jumps & breaks better.
I would not wait 3 yrs. let alone 17 yrs.

My mention of 3rd party is more pointed towards the majority of people wanting high tech, lower deflection shafts, not necessarily cf. But I agree, changing the weight of a shaft can be problematic. I've heard predator has a metal weight in the revo, all depending on the position of it, it may work for you and it may not.
I suspect that at this point, there's a lot of people who would have a big adjustment trying to switch back from a revo to a wood shaft. Everyone is different.

What do you mean by "all depending on the position of it"? Do they have different positions preset at the factory, or does the player have the ability to some how or another move/reposition the weight himself in the shaft?

Probably no more or less than the time to switch from the wood shaft to the revo. Maybe even less since the player is going back to an "old friend".

What do you mean by "all depending on the position of it"?
What I meant is that the position of the weight might be good for some and not for others. I don't believe it's adjustable but I don't own one, just know someone said you can find it by running a magnet down the shaft.

Nope, didn't say it was.
