There's no magic juju in a carbon fiber shaft just because it's new technology and the current rage. It could be good, or it might be a waste of time and money. What is the current total weight of your Lambros in ounces? How about the butt weight and shaft weight separately? Where does it balance?I’m of the belief that you should use the shaft that the custom cue maker provides. I’m not big on third party stuff where a custom cue is concerned.
When someone plays as long as you have there's a lot of feel involved. Not feel for aiming or guessing how to align the CB and OB to make a shot, but FEEL of the cue when playing for fun, playing for money, or playing in a major tournament. Things change when the muscles start tightening throughout the body from pressure and adrenaline. Those who have never been under a lot of pressure have no idea what can happen when the nerve endings feel like they can be jumping out of the skin.
A light carbon fiber shaft vs. a heavier wood shaft can make a big difference in what you feel and how you judge speed under the gun. It'll be different when practicing or playing for fun with someone you know. If you play with an extremely light wood shaft now, the transition would probably be easier. I honestly don't know what weight ranges can be produced for carbon fiber
pool shafts. They're certainly a lot lighter when it comes to a golf shaft but golf pros don't use them in the irons. Only in the driver and fairway clubs to get greater club head speed for distance. I think someone we both know very well got rid of his carbon fiber shafts and went back to good old faithful wood.
