He has not done anything on ebay since 2005. I would talk to him on the phone or have him take pics with cue and a piece of paper stating his user name. With photoshop though it can be hard to tell. Also like already stated the one shaft hurts.

Maybe I'm too conservative, but having just been screwed by a Mayor of a small town and their former Police Chief on $50 worth of shipping that he told me not to worry about( now he won't answer my email or calls), I'd be inclined to use Proficient Billiard's escrow service. Our world is sadly becomming less and less friendly, and on an important purchase like this I'd want a neutral party handling the cash and the cue and in addition I'd try to negotiate some type of conditional buyer approval.

When I sell a cue I always offer a complete satisfaction guarantee. I've not yet had anyone take advantage of it, and frankly, it's only my word guaranteeing it, but I would stand by it even if it hurt and I hope that it gives a buyer a certain amount of confidence. In this case, the main thing is that you have no references or experience with the seller. It looks to be a good deal. Good luck...Tom

Jah, Looks fishy if you ask me. $200 buyer protection, no business since 2005, and only 17 feedback since 2001 = Doesn't look too purdy, I'd be very cautious.

Buy the cue and agree to only COD...no cue; no $$$ !!
Easy to weed out the scammers that way.

I'm not 100% sure, but couldn't he just send you a house cue cut in 2 in a box doing it this way? What kind of protection do you get with COD?

I think you could cancel payment through your banking institution. If I remember correctly, it takes about 10 to 14 days until the COD reaches the seller, which would give the buyer plenty of time to stop payment.

This would be the way I would do it in this case.

This seller is doing all the "Wrong" things

1. "No insurance available" is a big red flag to say "so sorry it was lost in the mail, you lose"

2. "bankwire transfer" will ship anywhere - every fraudster hopes to get you into bankwire transfer.

3. Did anyone see that the WHOLE CUE PICTURE IS NOT THE SAME CUE????

4. Hides bidder IDs, and the only bidder is a ZERO. (Sign of possible shill bidding)

My experience says, this is a BIG RISK auction.

the best way is to get them to sell it here on az and wait for cue before sending money if they are legit and want a buyer they should go for this i would think, that way no cue no money no loss

No way ! No legit seller would do that either, but a third party escrow is possible. If I were selling a SW here I certainly would not send you the cue before I received the money ! Sorry  ...Tom

I think the bank wire statement is to let international bidders know that they're welcome to bid. He also accepts paypal.

The whole cue picture could just be a lighting issue.

Still looks legit to me. Everyone is too quick to judge and accuse IMO. The cue looks different because the butt sleeve and butt cap appear to be too dark. However if you look at a "negative", the cue looks to be the same.

I don't think the seller can hide buyers ID's. I'm pretty sure that's an ebay policy for new members. Although I could be wrong.

?????

Any time you buy a cue on ebay you should proceed with caution. I will agree that people are quick to judge the authenticity of the cues on ebay but it did not happen undeserved. Too many people got the shaft but no cue ever arrived.

Good luck on finding out

I've only done this with Fedex COD and I can't say that UPS or USPS will let you open the box before you pay, but I explain to the Fedex delivery driver when he shows up with the cue what's supposed to be in the box and that I want to open it to be sure the cue is what i'm paying for. I have shipping tape and my payment ready and it only takes a couple of minutes to look inside and if everything is right I pay the driver and if there's something wrong I tape the box back up and refuse delivery of the package. If the cue is what you want then Fedex overnights the money to the seller and if it's a scam then the seller gets his box back and you still have your money. This has worked for me when I've dealt with people I didn't know.....

i sold alot on ebay before AZB

i do agree high risk but to me everyone is high risk unless your standing right infront of me with the cue.
