This isn't the best stage show I have seen from him but there are plenty more on u-tube if folks want to look. All the johnny come lately types can take a back seat to the master. He owned a stage!

GREAT STUFF!! Thanks. I started watching all the videos of Chuck Berry and Little Richard. More than mere entertainers, these are two LEGENDS!

Chuck Berry is so damn talented, he brings tears to my eyes.

I doubt seriously that there would have been a rock and roll as we knew it without Chuck Berry. Like you, I had to start playing one video after the other.

Thanks Walt for reminding us there is beauty and talent in this world. Music is the common denominator that binds us all. Too bad so many people lose touch with it.

Many, many years ago there was a poolroom on Crenshaw in L.A. that really swung on the weekends. There would be soft jazz or R&B music and in the dim light of the pool tables everybody was playing and swaying. Mostly all brothers and sisters. I know you know what I mean. Soft voices and laughter were the background sounds. I never forgot that place. I went there looking for a game, and ended up just sitting there for hours and feeling the vibe.

I wish I could duplicate it today. It sure did feel good to be there.

Yes, racial injustices were as evident in pool as anywhere else at one time. John McHenry, the poolroom owner/player/road manager from Chicago who first took Bugs on the road hangs out here in Detroit at Hall Of Fame Billiards. Although he's 77 years old he can still play a mean game of One Pocket, recently defeating Tony Chohan with 3 hit and the pick. He talks all the time about Bugs, Youngblood, Marvin, and all the other African American players from years ago. Unfortunately, John Henry doesn't read these threads. He has to be told about them but they seem to please him very much. No compilation of the history of black players in the last few decades would be complete without talking to him. I can get in touch if anyone wants to reach him...Tom

You tell that old creep, John McHenry, that I'll play him some more! I'm in a little bit of stroke now. He beat me bad last time. He's the only human who outwaited me. Normally you wait on a guy until he gets old and then you take him off. John Henry is the only guy who waited until he got older before he took me off! John Henry never played me any kind of game, (he always had some black champion to sic on me) until he was 73 years old! Anybody know how embarassing that has to be? Incidentally, Squirrel's offer to play anybody over 70 would be a good spot to put John Henry on him. I make John Henry the favorite.

If more black people played pool, a lot less white people would be winning tournaments.

Anyone else wonder about this? Why there aren't all that many black players? You can understand why they've drifted away from baseball because of maybe the lack of fields, etc. in the the inner city, but there are pool halls all over, and yet you don't see all that many black players in tournaments. More in action, relatively, I guess, but still not as many as you might expect.

I can dig it .it's nothing in the world like that feeling. It's even better to have a sister by your side, dancing with you, sharing that magical vibe .:)
