I know Shane is sponsored by Cuetec and it says in his bio he likes the 360 shaft. I'm just wondering if anyone has an idea of his spec preferences. Mainly Shaft Diameter and weight? I've heard that he likes heavier cues, but just how heavy?

At the Gem City Classic this year I asked him about his and he said it was a 12.5mm shaft 360 shaft I did notice it had a long taper. I didnt find out how heavy his cue was

I'm not sure on the specs, but I know that when Earl played for cuetek that his cues were STOCK CUES off the shelf....He let me hit a few balls with his cues some years ago when he was still sponsored by them, everyone always swore they were not the stock strickland series cuetek's he played with.

I played with a strickland for about 4 years when I was younger....the same one that earl shot with and when I drove his cue around I couldn't tell any diff at all.

Its BS Earls Qtek wasn't STOCK....and I see no reason that Shanes would not be.

Your being sponsored by a company they want you to use their product, if he wasn't then it wouldn't be their product we are all buying.

just a guess based on previous arrangements,

I agree, I wasn't trying to say that he uses something other than cuetec products. I'm just interested in the specs. Anyone can go to the site and get a different weight and get the shaft turned down after or have a smaller diameter after cleaning and sanding it down after a while.

I think it is something like this, but I haven't been able to find the exact one. I know the wrap goes all the way to the butt like the cue above, but doesn't have the same design.

Shane's "stock" Cuetec cue?

I believe that most cue sponsored pros play with "stock" butts. As with Shane's R-360 cue, the butt is stock, but the R-360 shaft is "juiced", (that is re-tapered from stock and possibly a different ferrule and definitely a different tip!).

I agree, When watching the Mika vs SVB tar match I noticed his ferrule was shorter then normal. But I haven't seen a R360 shaft up close, so I'm not sure if they are like a 314 ferrule.

Specs. on Shane's Cuetec R-360 cue

I believe the Cuetec R-360 butt he is playing is the plain forearm (not the fancier cue as pictured). Retail on the cue pictured is $300. The no forearm decorated one retails for $220. F.Y.I.

Did Earl's cue have a super long pro taper on it?

NO it didn't, it was a stock SST SHAFT on his cuetek player forget the length of taper but it was stock, I would have noticed a diff. ( This was back in 03/04 I believe)

But his cue he has now which is a meucci has a insanely long pro taper on it....told me Bob would not taper the shaft like that for him so he got someone else to do it (can't remember who)

I don't know how he shoots with that new shaft on that meucci of his.....Earl is earl i guess lol

I believe someone on one of the TAR ppv's said that Shane's cue is around 22 ounces. I saw an interview with Shane where he said he uses a stock off the shelf cue. He said you can go to cuetec and get the exact cue he is using.

This is Shane's model. A year ago this is the cue he was playing. Just about as ugly in real life :o but damn he does play well with it.

Thats not what he plays with. What he shoots with doesnt have any points on it. Just seems to be a greyish forearm with a linen wrap.

Last October in Great Falls that was the cue he was using. I saw it and touched it with my own hands. Never in a million years would I forget those goofy rings!!

That's interesting. His Gulyassy (I think it was) that he had after cuetec dropped him also had that super long pro taper and I assumed the cuetec also had it. I'm pretty sure Van Boening's cuetec has a similar long pro taper.

I dont doubt thats what he used a year ago. But im almost positive that what he uses now doesnt have any points or anything on it.

I don't know if we are on the same page.......earls new meuccis shaft has a straight taper thats like 12.25 or 12.5 mm STRAIGHT BACK for like 24 inches....looked ridiculous and had no spine at all.

Now earls cuetek did have a long taper just like the regular cues did, cuetek always had the longest pro taper of the production cues at least back then if I'm not mistaken just forget the total length.....but it is no where even remotely close to what he's hitting with now.

now that you mention gulyassy I think thats who earl got to turn down the new shaft that bob wouldn't mess with. We were speaking and i used his cue for a bit last febuary at the T-town Classic, thats where he gave me the spiel on his slim jim taper

SNAP INTO A SLIM JIM!!!! OHHH YEAHHH!!!
