Splitting Predator Shaft

I bought a z2 shaft about 1 year ago for one of my cues but now it seems the shafts is splitting where the different pieces of wood are glued together. Its not falling apart, as of yet anyway, but you can get your finger nail into the gap.

This is obviously not supposed to happen but my question is what should I do now and has anyone heard of this sort of thing happening before?

Thanks in advance guys.

Do now?... I'd call Predator CS and arrange to send it in under warranty.

I've never heard of a Predator shaft splitting like that.

Predator has a warranty on their products. I'm sure they would fix or replace that shaft as it sounds to me like a defect in the shaft itself. I haven't had to use their service to fix any of my stuff over the years but whenever I have called to speak about any of their products they have been good to deal with.

The phone number for Predator is 904-448-8748. Whomever answers the phone will take care of your problem right away or connect you with someone who will.

I sold a 5k4 to a young lady (real good pool player) about a year ago. I saw her at the Super Billiards Expo and she showed me the shaft. It was split exactly in the same manner that you are describing. We went over to the Predator exhibit and they replaced it on the spot. It was a Z-2 shaft, too. I think they would take care of yours under warranty, also.

It's called splintering? It can happen. Not sure how exactly but the wood begins to have gaps or small pieces of it just fall off. Maybe poor application of glue or something else during the manufacturing process. Just call up CS and they should replace it~

I've seen a few but most were thinned down way to low to send in for warrenty but the do cover it. I took the ones I had and used them for tomato stakes in the yard. From the shaft slitting you will sometimes get a buzzzing sound when it splits up somemore.
