$$$ Spot Shot Challenge $$$

In another thread ("the shot i asked about...") it has been stated that an OB on the foot spot can be pocketed in a foot corner pocket starting with the CB in the kitchen and without allowing the CB to hit any rail. It has been demonstrated that this shot can be made without using any sidespin or draw on the CB, just slow rolling it at pocket speed.

But many who answered thought the slow roll shot was just, well, boring, and the shot needed something to make it interesting: sidespin, drag draw, masse, sacrificed chickens, anything. This challenge is for those guys.

I have a crisp new $20 bill (some of my best work) for the first AZer who posts a video showing him/her making the shot without allowing the CB to come within 1 diamond of any rail.

Here are the rules:

- Starting position: OB on foot spot, CB in kitchen
- OB must go into either foot corner pocket without touching any rail
- CB cannot touch any rail at any time, before or after contacting OB
- Base of CB cannot come within 1 diamond of any rail at any time after contacting OB
- It must be a legal shot on a 9-foot table with normal, undoctored balls and normal, undoctored napless cloth

Let the woofing begin.

Oh, like you need the $20. What is that in your country, like $20?

about 6p at current exchange rates, besides I'm broke and back in workville :p

PS
Can I pick my fav charity instead (unless u do beer tokens of course?)

i dont think you get paid based on his rules......he said the cb had to be in the kitchen, and you coudlnt touch a rail b4 or after the shot........looks to me like yorue out of the kitchen and ur against the rails when u shoot.

PJ, one time could be a fluke. I'll chip in $20 as well for a video meeting your criteria if made 3 out of 5. Which shouldn't be much harder than 1 (if it's skill and not luck). ;)

Rules for this are (in addition to PJ's rules): unedited continuous shots on the same table by the same shooter showing PJ's shot made 3 out 5 times.

It's very hard to make it more than once in five tries all jacked up and swerving the cue ball. Ask me how I know ;)

I'm not going to nitpick it - The One wins! And great shot, fluke or not! (Also, you did it on my birthday last year!)

Where can I send the prize, One?

Thanks Patrick, although I have to admit its not easy once you've done it for an hour or so you tend to make the ball quite often and its all about controlling the cb movement. This one was the least cb movement if I recall, prob a few inches max but nothing as good as what Efren can do so I hear.

As far as the $20 is concerned seriously I'd rather you donated it to a worthy charity or hold the competition again from this moment onwards.

Thanks for the offer though

that was fast  when i started the other thread I wasnt talking about the trick shot version here in this thread-thats an awesome shot too, i suppose if some one wanted to really masse it it could be a stop shot I got $100 for that.

Apparently Efren can do almost a stop shot. That is the holy grail of this shot of course but yes I believe it is possible. The hardest thing is to keep enough draw on the cue ball while achieving enough swerve, its a extremely difficult touch shot.

That being said I'm sure bucktooth could do it

OK, I'll let it ride here for the first player who can do it from today on. (And it doesn't matter if the cue ball is touching the rail before the shot.)

Now I gotta learn to make that stop shot...

I tried working up to it, starting with the cue ball at the side pocket, and then taking it gradually up the side rail towards the kitchen. The best I got to for a stop shot (maybe a ball of movement after the hit) was even with the first diamond above the side (half way to the kitchen).

I've mentioned before seeing Chris MacDonald shoot the shot and drawing the cue ball one diamond straight up the center line of the table (towards the head spot). He was trying to do Boston Shorty's shot, which is to make the spotted ball in the side without the cue ball touching a rail.

That looks like a doctored tape to me. There's a couple reasons that I say that.

1. Part way to the object ball the direction of the cue ball changes. I guess this could be a semi-masse but it doesn't look quite the same.

2. when the object ball is about to get to the pocket at what looks like the wrong angle to be made, there is a hesitation and then it goes in. I'm very sure there was some editing in that instance.

Neither of those things look wrong to me (although I do see the hesitations in the tape that you see). And the shot can be made, so...

Yes it is a masse, thats the only way to make the shot, and no definately no editing, hence the slow mo reply. I'm sure people can do it better than my best attempt as the white does roll a few inches forward.
