Stack Leather Wrap

Any ideas as to who does the least expensive stack leather wrap? Everyone seems pretty set on $150 -- just want to make sure I'm not missing anything...

If it were maybe a little less, I might be able to do it...

Thanks,
- Joaquin.

Well, as is usually the case, cheaper is not better. And as many people have PAIN-fully learned, the cheapest is rarely (if ever) the way to go with pool cues.

Petree does a fantastic leather wrap, but just like Proficient Billiards, he doesn't do Stack Leather. For that matter, most CMs don't do stack.

$150.00 at Tiger is your best bet. They're experts. Total peace of mind.

Love the Look

Here's a couple pics of a TS Ebony 4 pointer with a brown and black stacked leather wrap....love the look ;)

Yup. My first inclination was always Tiger. Just wondering if I was missing anything, like I said...

Mueller?

Has anyone had experience with Mueller doing wraps? I know they offer stacked leather!?

I believe Mueller also offers them and at a little bit of a discount compared to Tiger. According to their website, it is $95. I have heard good things about their repair in general, but can not comment specifically on their stacked wraps. I think a representative from Mueller posts on this forum under the handle ratcues.

I wonder if PAINPOON aka PAINPOOL does stacked leather wraps?? I'm sure he would beat everyone's prices, but there's no telling when you would get your cue back. Pay now or pay later, your choice. Step up to the plate in the beginning and you'll be glad you did.

I want to say this about stacked leather. It has to be done right, or it will be problems. It has to be applied properly and burnished and sealed properly, otherwise the leather will separate, curl, and lift.

By the way, Scot at Proficient does my regular smooth leather wraps on my collectors cues and he's always done a great job for me on those.

I have to agree with Chris. JW Petree and I watched Ilya (sp?) from Tiger put the wrap on my cue at Valley Forge this year and there sure seems to be an "art" to it. He got it dead flush with the finish and there were several little tricks he used to achieve that. The burnishing is another talent.

Spend the money and have Tiger do it. I don't believe you will be sorry. I've talked to Jim about it and I think I'm going to have my new White cue done by Tiger.

Muellers does great cue work and make good shafts. They are cheaper and seem to be a safe bet from there reputation .I think mueller would do a fine job. JMO:)

I do the stack wraps for $95 and can turn it around in less than a week. I was trained in Tiger's shop and have had no complaints. PM if you need info. Also, check the link for sample colors. I can custom match the wrap to your cue, if you want. I have 20 some stains so it shouldn't be a problem.

RatQ,

What is the cost of the stack leather from you including installation. If I am not mistaken, it looks as if the $95 covers labor alone? Please correct me if I am wrong.

whats good with tiger doing it is that they pay the shipping back to you so shipping one way only;)

Steven

That's the installed price. $95 for the wrap and labor.

Does stack leather or did stack leather.... I had one of his cues with a stack leather wrap. Worth checking with him, the work is always good. ALWAYS good.

does anyone remember what happed the last time someone chose a bargin over a sure thing on this site. does Arron Painter ring a bell? not to knock anyone in any way and even though i know nothing about how many makers do great stacked wraps, i would go with someone who is known by many for doing a great job reguardless of price.
