Hi all,

Does anyone have any good method for cleaning a beer stain from Simonis 860 cloth?

Thanks for your help.

I've spoken to Simonis on this subject before. I was told one capful of Woolite to a quart of water. Mix it up and wet a microfiber towel with it and ring it out well. (Really well). Go over the stain with it and wipe down the table lightly, let dry. I've had success with this on smaller stains.

Thanks for the positive respose. I'll give it a try.

Thanks for the tip javi2, the Woolite worked like a charm.

When you say go over the stain, what you mean to say is:: to apply a damp but not dripping microfiber to the stained area; patt the microfiber into the cloth with your hands; then lift it off and wring out the contaminants into a bucket not containing the cleaning solution.

Then do this about 30 times.

Do not RUB or otherwise move the microfiber cloth while it is in contact with the felt/cloth. It is unnecesary to the job at hand.

You can accelerate the drying process by patting a dry terry cloth towel onto the wet spot. Also about 30 times with a dry cloth each time.

Use hot...as hot as you can stand with your hands to clean the cloth with the woolite, with a slightly damp towel/washrag....the hot water dries faster than cold water does.

I also use a hair dryer and can dry it before it leaves a ring. Doesn't do anything at all to hurt the wool since the slate absorbs most of the heat.

Yes to that. I did use a hair dryer to dry and it worked out good. I also ran a dehumidifier in the room for a while afterwards. I went back over the entire table with the process and the cloth looks great and none the worse from the cleaning. Simonis is a great table cloth. Thanks to all.

No, but I got a good method for preventing beer stains!

Seriously, though I think the Javi2 had a pretty good answer. I hope it works out for ya.

What I "meant to say" was exactly what I typed....It has worked for me on 3 different occasions. "30 Times" ?? If anything is "unnecessary" it is "patting" the cloth 30 times. Seriously?

We don't kow how much beer was used to stain the cloth and how long it sat until some repair method was used. So, yes, under those circumstances, it is better to pat it down 30 times than to wait for it to dry and then have to pat it down another 15 times in a second session.
