Stan posted another youtube---Subjectivity, Objectivity, and a little CTE

I'd like to see a forum dedicated to CTE, maybe off Stan's site. That way he would be able to moderate the discussion and CTE users could get their questions answered without all the fodder that derails every CTE thread on this forum. I'm enjoying CTE so far, 2 weeks in and I am having a lot of success with it.

That's the bottom line. If you're having success with it & enjoying it, then that is ALL that matters.

I've suggested that there should be perhaps two(2) sub forums here. One(1) for the purpose of which you speak as an aid for those trying to implement & learn to use CTE & the other for others to make their points as to the true nature of CTE & why it does not work as described.

That way those like you could have a place to go for just the purpose you desire. That, however would require more moderation & my guess is AZB is not for that at this time.

So... your idea seems even better, Stan could give out a code to only allow certain individuals access to a question & answer forum on his site. If one goes off topic in his opinion he just denies access. He could probably do that on a Facebook page.

Anyway, I'm glad that you're enjoying yourself with it & wish you success.

All the Best 2 You & All,
Rick

I wish there was a way for one to completely delete a post spot when perhaps they hit the submit button prematurely.

Rick

How about the "others" just be required to be knowledgeable about there opinions on CTE. You can't have a valid point without knowing the full system. In fact how about you enlighten everyone on why it doesn't work as described. Please be as thorough as Stan as been.

If you really believed that, why are you so hung up on it?

Why, you would post in both anyways.

Why would you want a subforum for those against it when it would only have you and Pat and maybe one or two others ever posting in it?

You were right in your other post, you should have deleted this one.

Hey, Rick.

Many of the folks on here reveal their full name and where they play out of............can you do the same? Thanks.

I personally think it's wise minimize the public sharing of personal information.
There are web crawlers collecting everything they can, storing it and other programs data mining.

Also, I've seen at least a dozen of your previous posts and this is the 1st time I've seen you share your name.

Kentucky is a big place to play out of, Just like Maryland :)

You act like it is cause you certainly have no understanding of CTE.

He thinks it's fractional aiming where you have to adjust for every single cut angle and that we've all been fooled because we're actually doing a secret unconscious adjustment, which his massive intellect and brilliant analytical mind has concluded is the only way the ball could be pocketed.

I guess this is what happens when you do all your shooting from your armchair.

Objectivity

There is no such thing as objectivity in aiming. We all perceive things differently. As for "edges" on a round sphere, there are none. We "perceive" an edge in our view from where we are standing, but no 2 humans could possibly pinpoint the exact same "edge".

While I do not discount CTE and its effectiveness, it only gets you as close as your eyes can see it.

You will get along good with Duckie.

It is what it is....Doesn't matter if "Duckie" thinks the same way or not. Facts are facts. Spheres have no edges so there is no way to pinpoint and exact "edge" objectively or otherwise.

IF there was such a think as true objectivity in billiards, everyone would be playing at the same level. But we are not... ;)

The edge is where the ball stops and space begins. Everyone can see the edge of the ball. Yes, of course the the spot on the ball that is the edge varies as you move around the table. That does not preclude the ball having edges.

The edge is defined from where you are looking at the ball. If you cannot find the edge of the ball, you will never be able to aim.

I'm reluctant to use the 'o' word in this forum because it will start Rick foaming at the mouth but you have 2 very [insert that word] points on the ball useful for visualising the quarters.

The top of the ball and the extreme edge of the ball (sorry Duckie). Splitting the distance between the 2 points should be easy or become easy with practice.

I notice there is an Aramith training ball.

Not sure, but position '4' looks like the quarter.

I still wonder if practicing with a marked ball like this and then playing with a normal set is going to really help.

Aim 11 o'clock for A, 12 o'clock for B and 1 o'clock for C :)

huh

There are no edges on a sphere...we can "perceive" an edge, but its not an edge. It's only an edge in the sense that we see it as an edge....

I shoot rather well by the way...and yes...I use "perceived" edges to align my shots...

Are you experienced in CTE?

At risk of repeating myself... nonsense.

Also, you don't have to "take it to the table" to "know the system". It ain't rocket surgery.

ROTFLMAO! Why bother to ever get on the table when the keyboard is so much easier and faster to access. All you need are 2D color graphics and advanced spatial intelligence.

Then all you are doing is being pedantic and trying to cause trouble.
