Standing on table after winning a tournament...disrespect

I’m quite sure we had this identical topic discussed in a thread a year or so ago. As with virtually all things here, you’ll get a variety of opinions.

Do I think it’s showing disrespect to the equipment, yes, but as long as it’s not my table and the promoters encourage it, I’m guessing it will continue.

I just wonder if the future buyer/owner of this tournament used table would approve of this or is even made aware of this? I doubt it.

I could see a player's weight doing damage to the rails and subrails as he pulls himself up, but I'm curious what damage you think would be caused to the table frame or slate itself (not being snarky, I don't know the answer)?

Not likely any for a well made table that is going to be disassembled anyway so knocking it out of level is not an issue.

Regardless, I still wouldn’t want someone dancing around on top of my table, would you?

Funny. I just watched the finals and pointed out that cheerleader celebration to my wife. I hate it. Stay off the table.
They don't dance around tearing up the greens in golf.
Pool players should try to exercise the same level of respect.
Someone should photoshop pom poms in the players' hands and maybe a skirt around their waists.
At least he didn't jump on the table like the silly MC teams.

It’s like Helio Castroneves climbing the fence after winning the Indy 500. The first time was original and enough.

But yes, jumping on the table looks bad and is disrespectful to the equipment in my opinion.

I think the players should try smashing and throwing their cues, cases and spectator chairs around instead in the manner of Pete Townshend. Now that would be original. ;)
They could do without the donuts. I'm surprised they weren't banned. Not that I know the procedure but it always seemed to me, donuts would be the best way to scrub off illegal compounds.

I'm a Ko fan so I gotta look the other way. Still, jumping on the table is stupid. They should provide an elevated platform for that. They could strip naked and dance around for all I care. Also the primal scream - these guys have no voice training and they all sound lame. One rule change I would make is a player would be allowed to vent pressure by primal scream. Be a new thing at tournaments - roaring and bellowing.

Yes, they do so at the end of every Ryder Cup. Members and coaches of the winning team always jump up and down on the green on which the Ryder Cup is sealed.
Haven't watched the Ruder Cup in forever. Makes sense though. In those team events, all class goes out the window.
At least not they do not wear real spikes that can cause damage.

what are you disrespecting?? the pool table. what a joke. thats for gang bangers to say so they can mess someone up. and who respects them in the first place.
it is a show of emotion that is either good or bad for pool. let the tournament people that put up all the cash decide that for themselves.

oh wait i scuffed my cue tip. did i disrespect it. i am so sorry.

I think the jumping on the table celebration is becoming passe and redundant, but I don't give two sh*ts what a player does in his excitement after winning as long as he goes over and shakes his opponents hand BEFORE DOING ANYTHING!!!

Watch SVB after he sank the last ball on his first World Championship:
That's the classy way to do it!

If this was aimed at me, I find it hilarious that it triggered you.
If not, please disregard this post.

Silly, pointless comment, mostly unrelated to the subject at hand, but hey, entertain yourself all you want.

I have no problem with it. Show some emotion. It’s going to be recovered for the next tournament anyway. And if it’s not A couple shoe prints can easily be cleaned up. Lighten up.

I wonder if Rasson puts special bracing on the finals table. It would seem prudent. And for the Victory model, they better make sure it is bolted to the floor.

couldn't care less. but ko doing it looked out of character. he is one cool cat.
I could care less, but it's not important. He commented that in the first or early rounds he knew he could win and had a fixation on jumping on the table. Apparently he's at least partially muse driven.

Some folks are disrespecting the word “disrespect” that even Rodney Dangerfield will turn in his grave.
It is not as if they mooned the audience/camera like this whole football team (led by now actor Vinnie Jones). I can understand folks getting butt-hurt if they get mooned.
Crazy Gang Wimbledon - Full Moon Alan Cork testimonial.jpg

But standing on pool table? Only negative Nancies and sensitive Simons will say it is disrespecting pool table
Maybe next time, after prize ceremony there should be appreciation ceremony for pool tables where players pay their respects, bow down and pray give thanks to pool gods :ROFLMAO::LOL:

It’s not a table at a pool hall lol I would get it if it was. I”m sure if matchroom had a problem with it they would have a rule about it but they obviously don’t care. Hell for all we know they could be encouraging it . If they don’t care why should I lol

I'd rather have shoe prints than the remains of a gangbang on the table

I cringe a little if they step on the rubber cushions. They could loosen the bond between the rubber and the sub-rail.
Other than that, it's very unlikely to cause any damage to anything but the cloth, especially on a Diamond. Those things are built like tanks.
