Starved for DCC reporting

Here I sit in the dark on DCC. There is almost a total lack of info coming from there. Sure there are "who played who" so far in the Banks but zero details of the matches. Wish I was there, but could not make it. The entire pool nation is focused on this event but even the pool and billiard publications seem to be almost ignoring the event. No wonder pool is on the decline in the US, total lack of coverage from the media. Sad

Yes, I agree. Not enough attention on the DCC. I have a friend who is still undefeated in the fourth round of banks. When he calls me today, I will grill him on some good matches and report back.

A total lack of coverage by the sports media in general I've come to live with, but to be ignored by the pool media is inexcusable.

Thank the lord for this forum.

Have u checked all the sources?

Wow, I would think u are not looking for info too hard. First of all the tournament is only started 3rd day, the real matches start when last 64 players left, not the perliminaries. Have you been watching Action Report streaming? Lots of info comes out of that site every few minutes. How aout the Derby City section on this forum. Lots of blogs and reporting.
Compared to a couple of years ago the advancement of streaming and internet as brought tons of coverage. Your posting and whining just because you are not there is not helping. Why even post? Your time would be better spent checking out the sources.
Oh forgot also accu-stats is showing matches daily all day. What more do you want. Sheeesh

I spoke with my friend Jeffery this morning and got the following info:

Gambling has been halted and gamblers have been told that if they are caught gambling on matches they will be barred from the premise. One guy was making book on some action matches and was writing the bets in his notebook when he was approached by one of the Casino gaming staff and asked forthrightly what he was doing. The guy responded that he was keeping track of outcomes of various players. According to Jeffery, who was standing nearby and who overheard the conversation, the guy was accused of making book and told that if he did it again, he would risk going to jail.

Have been told the venue is nice buy very very expensive.

Also was told that in one room where matches were being held, there were six tables packed in so tight that two of the tables required a short stick, yet none were available and players had to jack up on certain shots when landing the cue ball in the short stick area.

Heard Alex bailed out of the ten ball ring game and decided instead to stay in Manila in a high stakes poker game where he was losing $60,000 pesos.

Have heard there is a lot of disgruntlement among action players do to the no gambling enforcement?

Anyone who cares to add or challenge this summary, feel free, for I am only passing on what I have heard.

Reading this, sounds like the location selected was a mistake. I want to stress that I've never been to a DCC...it's just that I think anybody hosting a pool tournament who thinks they can halt gambling is chasing rainbows...

I guess you admit you ranted before you checked everything out.

Oh I take that back, I hope some day you get that chance and do .

But in watching the live TAR the last couple of days, I have not heard of any problems and it seems gambling is going on as usual.

There`s nothing worth watching or listening to at any of the sight you spoke of. I said what I said because you obviously are easier entertained than I. In my opinion I did not appreciate your attack on my post. Thus the retort, if you understand english

You have somehow managed to collect a fair amount of bad info.

Last night was just like any other good night in the old Derby Action room. Scooter was in high gear and there was plenty of action and entertainment.

I have yet to hear anyone mention a word about gambling or any player mention getting hassled about action. And some of these guys are doing the old school woof at the whole room technique.

I wish people would stop the gloom and doom. This year and this place is different, it is too spread out, it costs a little more but so far it is still the stone cold nuts.

Great Action and Viewing 24/7

I'd like to thank Tar and Jcin- For the Feed! it is giving plenty of information! but better yet Just watching guys like Cliff, big John,Henneesy, Kirkwood, practice there moves is priceless! Scooter and Watches make it better! Hopefully all the viewers will experience it live, someday. And its been on 24/7 for Free. Thanks Tar and Jcin again mark

That is good to hear... As I made clear, I am only passing on without embellishment what I have heard from one who is there. Since I am not there, I cannot attest to what is fact and what is hearsay? None the less, I am glad to hear a more positive statement from one like yourself, who is also reporting first hand. Thanks for the info.

Amen Brother!

I just returned home from the first weekend and I had just as much fun, if not more fun, than the Executive West days.

The 3 main issues are...

1. The distance from the room to the tournament area
2. The tables were too close together
3. They need to have some TV's outside the main tournament room for players to see their draws and playing position on their table

The positives far out weigh those 3 negatives. There are more food choices (and it is not that expensive if you explore all the options), the total facility is a much nicer place, there is more parking, there are plenty of free standing bars to buy drinks, the TAR Pit is bigger, there is a nice gathering area outside of the main Tournament room, the staff was nicer and more helpful, the re-draw times were pre-determined (great addition!).

That is it IMO. I really hope this venue works out...I enjoyed it a lot!

I went down last night and played in the mini 9 ball and had a lot of fun, it is a totally different feel but definately still the derby. The tables look way to close but there seemed like there must have been 50 different doors you can go in to and see tables, the balcony is the nuts, you are looking down at the main tournament room and it is the best thing about the new derby, there is a lot of walking to see everything but if you get the chance to go even 1 day, take it, well worth it!!!

Glitch

The banks were postponed today because of some kind of glitch. Got to see 1 match at 11 this morning. Banks stopped @ that point, I left at 5PM not sure what happened after that. The new venue is nice but a lot of bugs need to be worked out. Most disappointing to me is that we're back to the "gas chamber" affect with this location. However, for smokers', it's a paradise.

So there is smoking every where?

I would never have commited to that abuse had I known. Damn.

Its only cancer WTF!

Does anyone know how many players signed up for the bank and one-pocket tournaments? I know there was a computer glitch yesterday, but I can't seem to find how many players signed up for each tournament.
