Steel Dovetail lathe beds

I have available a limited number of steel dovetail lathe beds for sale.

Specifications are as follows:

1. 48" long

2. Each bed has 9 pre-drilled mounting holes, .300" diameter and countersunk for pan head screws. They are spaced every 6", except for at one end where the last hole is 4" from the one next to it.

3. The dovetails are .361" thick, and are 2.246" across. The aluminum dovetail I have is 2.250" across.

4. The bottoms are flat without any grooves.

5. Some have small areas of surface rust. No pitting or roughness. All rust I have found was easily removed with a wire brush.

6. They weigh just under 10 pounds each.


Prices are $150.00 each, shipped in the US. They will be shipped via UPS ground, and packaged in a pvc pipe for protection.

Those dovetails look great, they definetly have a ground finish look, and having met you last month, I am sure the quality is going to be top notch

I have a couple of steel rails that look like they came from the same source.
I prefer the steel over the Ali.
If postage was not such an issue, I would get more.
Bump for those who were looking for a steel dovetail.
 
I've received some questions about the lathe beds. I'll answer them here so everyone gets the answers.

I basically figured the price at $125.00 for the lathe bed, and the $25.00 to cover the shipping charges (CONUS) and the packaging materials. I'm using Sch 40 PVC tube and shipping UPS so we have tracking. I want the lathe beds to get to you in good shape, and they're heavy.

I'm not having these made for me, so I can't make changes to them. They are what they are. I have a limited number, but it's more than just a few. They were stress relieved and then ground which is very important. Pieces like this will not stay straight without stress relieving. They're probably mild steel, but I don't know for sure.

These items are being sold as is.

If you're interested, pm me your order, and I will pm you my paypal. The lathe beds are on a first paid first shipped basis. So I won't hold any without them being paid for. When they are gone, they are gone.

Got mine today - looks absolutely GREAT:thumbup:

If anyone is concerned about shipping these things, they come in a 3-1/2" Sched 40 PVC pipe (1/4" walls). They are supported on the inside from rattling around inside the PVC. There is a 1-1/2" wooden plug on each end secured around the diameter with 8 1" screws. Heavy duty strapping tape then is liberally wrapped around both ends for even more security. They aren't going to get damaged in shipping!!

The dovetail itself is cleanly machined and the screw bores are smooth as well.

A REAL GOOD JOB Royce!:thumbup:

I received my dovetail, packed very well, in good shape. It looks most excellent and will be the basis of a very nice lathe. Thanks, Royce. Good job!
 
We have one more going out tomorrow, thanks Dave!

Even though we've been moving them out pretty steady, we do still have some left.
