Anyone know what's happening with Steinway Billiards in NY? Last I heard the whole block was bought up by some developer and Steinway needed to vacate at some point. Just wondering,,,

Not for years. I believe Earl is the house pro at Sandcastle Billiards in Edison, New Jersey. Thanks for the update, is Earl still house pro there these days?
He went from Steinway to Fusco's in Philly then on to Sandcastle iirc. Thanks for the update, is Earl still house pro there these days?
It would be interesting to know how many different poolrooms Earl has been a house pro at over the years? If he were ever to make it back to his home state of NC, he might add another poolroom to that long list. He’d love our 10-foot Gabriel’s pool table with 4-1/4” pockets, and I’d gladly offer him a place to stay for as long as we could put up with him.He went from Steinway to Fusco's in Philly then on to Sandcastle iirc.
That is a generous offer and it’s hard to beat living in your neck of the woods. Have fond memories of our annual trip out to get the Xmas tree and lunch at the Daniel Boone Inn.It would be interesting to know how many different poolrooms Earl has been a house pro at over the years? When you think about the cost of real estate, and how much $/sf a pool room brings in, it starts to make sense unfortunately. A lot of cities are becoming so overpriced that the things that make a city worthwhile and livable are getting priced out. I spent $40 the other day in 2+ hours at the pool hall. I think $17 for food and $23 for table time. A table in that room takes up about 200 sf. A restaurant could get $200 out of the same floor space. Then again there's much less labor in a pool hall and the table time is nearly all contributing margin, save for the wear on the cloth, which was probably under a dollar. I should buy more food and drink because if all 40 tables are in use at $12 an hour, that's only $480/hr for 10,000 sf or so.It seems strange to me that with the renaissance pool seems to be having with all the Matchroom, Predator etc of late, yet it seems more and more pool rooms are closing instead of opening. I don't ever expect a boom in pool room openings like after The Color of Money but still it seems these things are going in opposite directions.
great avatar.....I am grateful I got to see that hall go from a family-kids amusement place to world class action poolroom. Sad to see it go.
Once Masters closed on Queens Blvd, Steinway stepped up in a huge way and filled the absence of a 'true' action room in Queens, NY
