Wow, I just watched this for the first time this weekend. I thought it was a pool movie, it looked more like a soft core porn movie. The pool in it wasn't really shown that well, only 1 trick shot (a masse'), and an easy one at that. And the game winning shot was a joke, it didn't even look like it could happen.

BBBBUUUUTTT,

I did watch the movie and thought I would have to watch it again, just to see if there were any good shots in it.

I would have to say at his time, my pool movie picks are in order:

The Hustler
Color of Money
Baltimore bullet
and then Stick Men

Realizing

That most Pool movies are not going to be the perfect one
because most are low budget. At least it was a movie about
Pool for us fanatics, and I thought it was interesting enough
to watch a couple of times.

Other Pool movies: Chalk (low budget internet movie - bad lighting)
Behind the 9 ball - released in 2004, no other info

Lets not forget PoolHall Junkies. Are you sure that wasn't Behind the 8 Ball about 2 chicks from South Central LA trying to pay for the college tuition, or something like that.

It's Behind the 9 Ball. Not really a great movie, b ut ok I guess. The pool wasn't very good. Typical for a movie though. It's about a tournament that has 200 people who pay $5,000 each to play winner take all. It's set in the TD's house and it's the final night of the Tournamnet. I think they showed more dogged shots than they showed actually made shots.

Only buy it if your a pool movie fanatic.

I have Stickmen on DVD and haven't had any problems watching it on any DVD player.

Amazon says their's are region 1 encoded...

Here's a list of the pool movies I have:

-The Hustler DVD
-The Color of Money DVD
-Pool Hall Junkies DVD
-Twighlight Zone, A game of Pool DVD
- The Baltimore Bullet DVD
-Stickmen DVD European PAL format
-Kiss Shot DVD European PAL format
-Number One (Snooker Movie) DVD European PAL format

Snooker DOCUMENTARIES (6) DVD (European PAL Format)

Alex Higgins - I'm No Angel DVD
Century Breakers DVD

Kisshot, Stickmen, Number One and the Snooker Documentaries are all on European Pal Format and cannnot be played on North American DVD players.I bought this Phillips DVD 642 machine that comes with a hack code and plays DVD's from all regions throughout the planet. It's only about $65 USA and well worth it considering it's versatility.

Check it out at this link:

The Hustler and the C.O.M are by far the best two pool movies and the rest of them including Stickmen are mediocre. If you are a pool junkie (like me) you'll probably enjoy watching them all.

Other (three) movies that are out there include:

W C Fields "The Pool Shark" 1915

The Baron and the Kid with Johnny Cash

Chalk

I have a copy of "Stickmen" that plays perfectly in my region one American DVD player.
I would love to know where to get a copy of the Twilight Zone movie.

It's not a movie...it was just one of the 30 minute shows on the original Twilight Zone. If you watch the Sci-Fi channel when they're doing an all day telecast of all the old Twilight Zone's, you can tape it.

I think everbody has left out, (and seems no one has) the greatest music pool video ever made...George Thorogood and the Destroyers..."Bad To The Bone". Willie Mosconi was even in it....but, what a great song too!

I just watched this movie this morning.....couple of boob shots that make it tolerable, but otherwise it's pretty lame.

I felt Stick Men sucked!

My order of preference would be:
The Hustler (#1 all time favorite- Jackie Gleason is the man!)
PoolHall Junkies (love the music and some of the scenes are downright hilarious- it could have been great)
The Color of Money- (some great stuff- one of my favorite scenes is Amos after hustlin Eddie- "Hey, I want to ask you something, an' I want you to be real honest. Do you think I need to lose some weight?"

Some pool movies are just to bad to add to your collection and Stickmen was one of them. I stopped collecting really bad pool movies after I saw the movie "Chalk" OMG. The real bad ones you just watch and say ok you will not make it into my pile of DVD's and move on.

Well when I gave the "review" it was a few years ago. And I don't have it in my list of pool movies any more...

Its funny when these old threads get bummped. Most of us dont realize they are old :D

Kinda tipped me off though when I saw a post from 9ball girl, havent seen her post in a long time (maybe I just missed them).

We need someone to put out a GOOD pool movie! Maybe it would spark interest like the COM did back when it came out.

Has there been any word on the movie about Danny B? There was talk about it for a while but nothing has been posted lately.

Stickmen was lame, good nude scenes, haha. I liked The Hustler, TCOM, PHJ and even Turn the River I could deal with. I did not care much for Shooting Gallery but it was better then Stickmen. I liked the snooker documentaries on Alex Higgins and Jimmy White which you can watch on Youtube, they were really good.
