I'm probably in the minority but I'd like to see a limit on Stickys well below the number we have now. What ye say?

PS- I know someone will be dying to ask this be made a sticky so let me ruin that bad joke now.

I think it depends on the subject matter of the sticky threads. When I look at the current threads that are on the list, I don't think there are too many because each one serves a specific purpose. Over time, some of them will go away, as they should. JMO.

I would like to see no more than one sticky at a time. If you need more than that then start a sticky forum where folks can go. The polls are boring, the raffle can be handled with a banner ad, etc.

FWIW,I agree.

I agree that sometimes there can be too many sticky threads. I have to disagree about the raffle being a banner. That thread is constantly being updated when new items are added to the raffle. A banner wouldn't be sufficient. I realize that not all people care about the raffle but there are some that do care and are interested in the updates.

I like the idea of another category/forum.

Strokenot,
I guess I actually like the stickies (no matter the amount). I believe that it encourages broader participation in the forum.

There are some zealots who basically read or review every post, every day (like me and possibly you); stickies for these members may be unnecessary and a little annoying. There are others, who only drop by occasionally or just look for a couple of interesting threads; the stickies REALLY help these members stay in touch with some of the activities and conversations that are geared towards including as much of the forum as possible.

When we were organizing the AZB room, we had many members who found out only because of the sticky. I like them; it doesn't take much energy to skip over them if you need to.

Of course, I remember the days of "the Silencer", when the forum was inundated with new threads - stickies really help on those days.

Well you are kinda saying we have to force feed those who don't care enough to come around much. I dont see a need to that to the extent it is being done.

I understand your view though and it won't cause me to root too much against you in your match-up extravaganza hardly at all.
:)

We should have a sub-forum of some type for the stickies IMO. Better than clogging up the main board with them.

Zerostroke,
Ouch. I take it back. I hate those freakin' stickies!!!!! Now could you just cough a few times REAL LOUD while breakup is shooting (if he actually gets a shot, or if it looks like he might actually make more than 2 in a row)????

I've made this point before, Nostroke. Way too many threads become sticky around here. Of the six sticky threads I see, only the OldHasBeen thread deserves to be sticky.

I don't think there should ever be more than two sticky threads, and most of the time, I feel there should be none of them.

Important threads stay on the front page because of poster participation, and barring something truly deserving of headline status, such as the death of a highly respected poster, it should remain that way.

That bucket is no joke. I found it under the floorboards of an old house i lived in. It was from the early 1900's and I was told it was worth $600. I was offered $400.00 for it already.:)

Yeah that is the SW. Lots of interest but i have to let GYK see it before I do anything else with it.

Maybe ill bring to SD this week.
:)

Absolutely perfect

I was going to say the EXACT same thing...great minds think alike?

...

The problem is too many stickies discourage participation because they waste valuable space cutting down on the number of live threads on each page. Neccessitating more page and discouraging participation. JMHO.

Pretty soon you will have to go to page 2 to get to the first thread. But I quit reading the Sticky's a long time ago.

I have to agree

I think there should be SOME limit to the number of stickys, maybe two or three? When it gets to five or six or more, it seems too much to me.
