I recently acquired a awesome player by Pat Diveney, it is the second I've had the pleasure to shoot with. I am extremely pleased with the playability of his sneaky petes, both cues I have shot with have a nice stiff hit and I am sold and in love. I wouldn't change one thing about it tip diameter or taper, balance and weight.

My question is what other makes make a cue similar to his hit and playability? Sugartree? SW? any other makers near this kind of hit? I'm just impressed with the price point of Pat's cues and the hit.

A good cuemaker should be able to build a cue with the stiff hit you prefer. My cue made by Mike Bender has what I feel is a stiff hit but we discussed what I wanted before he built it.

Steve lomax makes a very stiff hitting cue. But yeah every diveney i have ever hit with has been super stiff and crisp hit.

Pat's stuff is awesome! Keith Kues across the border here in SD, play very similar. and cost is similar as well. start around $450 for sneaky petes and goes up from there to as wild as you want to get!

If you find a cuemaker you like, why change?

I agree to the extent of what you play with. However, if you collect, the problem is there are so many great cue makers to choose from, and each has a style and character that you want to have, just to have it.

I will more than likely never play with anything but a Keith Kue. But I intend to buy a BHQ, Jim Baxter, Need another Diviney, I'd like an old Holcomb, a Kersenbrock, a Jerry R, and the list goes on and on.

The one thing I will say about cues though, if you find one you absolutely LOVE how it plays. i don't care who built it, DONT SELL IT. I found the one cue that I absolutely LOVE to play with, and I can't get my friend to sell it. Drives me crazy, but I wouldn't sell it if the rolls were reversed...

Best,

Justin

Try a Josey. I have a sneaky Diveney and a Josey and the hit is very similar although i like the Josey a bit more.
