I cant speak for how this one plays, I just made it for a fellow league players wife who loves purpleheart & it was pretty much snatched up off of the buffing wheel as soon as it was finished haha. I play with my first conversion, which is a titlist & I think it plays jam up of course :thumbup:. Really tho, there are only a cpl guys that play with my cues and they say that it is a solid hit and seem to like my shaft taper, they are probably just being nice. haha

What kind of equipment are you working with?
What kind of finish.
Right now my main equipment is an old enco 12x36,, a harbor freight 8x12 set up with just a porter cable router that I used a solid carbide .020 saw blade to part the rings, and a 14" band saw.
In the near near future I will be contacting xzero for sure, for my first CNC, just found a 2500 sqft shop for lease for a heck of a deal that I am hoping to fill up with
equipment. The finish is Cardinal UV
I would recommend your approach to anyone wanting to build cues.
I have seen too many guys trying to get too fancy, too soon.
I would have preferred a simple Hoppe ring at bottom with no other ringwork.
I think you are doing just fine, keep at it.

Thanks Ken, Right now I consider myself a glorified ring puter oner haha. I am definately working at a snails pace, but have been trying to learn the other construction methods & hope to build my first 4 pointer this year. I prefer the simple Hoppe ring look also, in fact almost all I have done is that style, I did try the delrin buttcap route, but haven't got the finish matching up down quite yet & keep ending up with a "valley" right in front of the buttcap.
those old valley supremes make nice conversions.

but wondering why you used a thicker white ring at buttcap then on the rest of the cue.?

Well at least it took 10 posts for someone to say something about it LOL, I was hoping to squeak by with that one, the one I was worried about was the joint rings not lining up that Mikey Town mentioned in post #3 Haha.
Really tho Brent, I guess I understand it that as you get closer to the butt, since it is bigger that things do change subtly, such as the dashes at the joint are not as wide as the ones the closer you get to the bottom. Of course, I may have screwed that up to and used the wrong billet
Is this not the case, is it just the case with billets and not solid rings. I mean I know anybody can do what they want or what looks good to them, but aesthetically & appealing to the masses, am I mistaken in this. Hmmmm, now I got more and more pictures of cues to look at, darn it. lol.
