Stolen Cues Returned !

A friend of mine has his cue case with two beautiful Prathers a break cue and all the usual accessories stolen. The owner of the establishment where the items were stolen put the word out that he had the whole thing on camera.

The cue case and cues were found lying by the door a few days later when the employees arrived to open for the day.

Happy ending!

We have cameras at Buffalo Billiards in Metairie,LA now and a similar thing happened recently but it was a set of keys. They were returned when the person who "found" them was made aware that it was on camera.

We've got cameras inside and outside. Bartenders are now having to step up their game or find themselves hitchhiking on the highway.

Got good video of the thieves taking my stuff, walking by the bar, but apparently no cameras at cash register or parking lot to aid in determining if they paid their time by credit card, or what they were driving.

Glad you got your stuff back.

Wish I could say the same.

Several years ago a friend had his old Schon stolen at a regular Sat tournament. The following Thurs one of the Filipino regulars was at a tournament 30 miles away when a couple of guys came in to the room trying to sell the stolen cue. Francisco promptly walked up to them and in no uncertain terms told them that the cue had been stolen from a friend of his the previous Sat and that he was returning the cue to its owner. He took the cue, which he had been looking at as a prospective buyer, walked it over to the owner of the room and asked him to take care of it. Then turned to the guys and told them that if they had a problem they could deal with him and then with the police. They turned and left after a little bluster. Always thought that was pretty ballsy.

Last Aug 2013 I had a cue and case stolen,

I made a police report, and took a copy to all the local pawn shops, put a notice on Craigs list under Lost and Found, and at the loacl pool hall,

I thought I would never see it again. My friend called last weekend to say it was at a local pawn shop, I zoomed over there and sure nuff, My stick and case, They said I had to come back on monday with a policeman to get the cue. I thought I would get my stuff back righ then, but I discovered thats not the way it works . They said what do you want to do? I said," I want my stick and case back, it was stolen and I made a police report and gave your store a copy of it too". They said I could buy it back for what they paid, ( 200.00) or I could put it on a 90 police hold. they would not sell it, and the police would investagate the theft, I said I would leave it on a 90 hold, So I hope to get it back free after 90 days. . More to be related as it happens...

You handled it nicely, sounds like you'll get it back.
I don't get the 90-day thing, but at least you found it.

Here's a good story...

Years ago I bought a nice basic cue from a pool hall manager in Philly (older guy) who I had known for years. He let me know it was his player and he was selling it. I bought it. Turned out it was a Scruggs (I had never heard of Tim Scruggs at the time). I loved the cue. So, the next expo comes around and Tim and Mike are there. I go over to them and say, "I bought one of your cues last year and I love it!" Then I take it out to show them. Mike takes one look at it and says "That cue was stolen in Baltimore last year. The guy is a great customer and still comes to the shop looking for it in case it turned up". I said, "here's my number. Have him call me. I don't want somebody's stolen cue. That's bad karma" Next day I'm there vas buy a replacement cue. Tim sees me buy it and says "how bout if I buy that cue for you (it was cheap) and you let me take this one (the stolen cue) back to my guy. I said sure and gave him the cue. Here's the best part. The guy calls me a week later and we talk pool for an hour. I end up having Timmy make me a cue and my new friend insists on meeting me at the shop with a box of the nicest woods you've ever seen (he's known as the wood man). He says "I insist that you take whatever pieces you want" for my cue and wouldn't take a penny. That was probably 8-9 years ago and the guy is now one of my closest friends.

Years ago I bought a 1x2 It's George case here on AZ. When it arrived, I opened and found a nice looking titlist conversion with 2 shafts. Promptly notified the owner, who wasn't aware he shipped me the cue with the case. Shipped the cue back the next day.

That's the way the world should work!

Lot of good news stories on here. I'm not usually so lucky when I lose things and my current set of cues cost me about $1200. A predator P3, Predator BK2, and Predator Air jump cue.

To some that's not a huge amount but I really don't want to lose them and I've heard of cues and cases going missing even in the various leagues I've been in. I always keep my case in sight when I'm playing or watching matches and I keep myself between my cues and the door.

Last couple of leagues I would even break my cue down and put it back in the case between practice games and then carry the whole case with me whenever I had to go to the bathroom. Gets a little old but I was new to both leagues and didn't have any close friends I could count on to watch them for me.

The first person who invents a cost affordable, effective device that will telephone your cell phone with one of those EMERGENCY RINGS if your cue case moves more than 20 feet from you or your cell phone will be a millionaire.

If the pawn shop has it then they bought stolen goods.
Its your cue and I would press charges against the pawn shop. for not giving it back after you proved it was yours. and it was hot.
Or just buy it back and then sue the pawn shop for selling stolen goods.
