Straight grain maple, Wenge 4 pointer

Looks like this cue is going to be a real player Jim. I just played with one of my straight grain forearm cues this evening. The hit is spectacular

Real nice player. Straight grain does play great. What's between the silver rings?

Nice looking cue Jim. Very clean and simple and great material choices!

Nice work....

Man, it's coming together real nice. Love the wood combo. Keep them coming, more pics!!!!

I like it!

I have used a lot of Wenge in the past for fingerboards and it is nice stuff!

VERY tonal as well as stable; solid without being overly dense and should make for a nice solid cue.

I'd like to see it all finished up!

Can't wait to see this one finished. Very clean and great design. It's gonna be really sharp looking. Thanks for the update.

neat cue my friend. i bought some wenge about a year ago just to have some. i like browns for 4 pointer with veneers. anyways i wasnt sure how it will look under a finish so im interested to see this cue finished. for the last year i been buying woods ive never seen or heard of just to have some onhand incase... wenge ive heard of but dont see often.

Wenge looks great under a finish; however it is very open grained so you have to fill the pores well to get a nice 'glassy' finish.

We used to joke all the time: "Make plastic look like wood and make wood look like plastic."

It is nice stuff and I think it will work well in a cue.

PS this is used for flooring too...

That looks awesome Jim!

The only thing I would do differently is some black/natural or black/brown/natural veneers on the points. But, that being said, it looks great like it is!
