Hmmm... I've been away from straight pool awhile now and dunno if I can hang with the competition but after 20 minimum hours a week of just that, I sure would like to see where I'm at in a couple weeks!

The last two tournaments (One Pocket & Bank Pool) I had, the players voted to "iron man" it (ONE DAY-Straight through). I expect the same thing on the January 7th 2012 Straight Pool Tournament....

Is the event gonna be streamed ??

Sure would be nice to see some great 14.1 !!

-Steve

No live stream for this one, Steve. The guys who did the other ones were busy.

Hopefully, we can get enough bodies. $500 added should bring some people out of the woodwork. I need to contact some people in neighboring states and try to get a good turn out.

Wish I was just a little bit closer, then I would be there for sure !!!

Hope you get a great turnout, keep us posted on the results if you can

One week and counting !

I sent a message to ask Danny Harriman if he was playing. He did not exactly answer but said he has been practicing and asked if they were going to outline the triangles on the tables. I need to remember to mention it to John.

Jeff Carter and Bobby Hunter confirmed. Tom Karabotsos usually plays in these. Frank "Sailor" Stellman will be there with bells on. Dallas West said he might come by to kibbitz. George Pawelski said he would be there. George Fels is usually there to watch. Cozzolino, Latimer and Lavin have all run 100 balls.

Sounds like we may have a lot of 100 and some 200-300-400+ runners in the house! :grin-square:

Dallas West again said he would try to be there. As one of the best straight pool players to ever come out of the Midwest, it would be an honor for us to have him there. I just spoke to him a few minutes ago. He said back in the 70s when he won two us opens, he was in stroke for 10 years. He always got up for the US Open Straight Pool Tournaments. I hope he comes by Saturday.

That harmless looking gentleman in the bottom picture staring with his specs at the cue ball put up two nice runs on me last night - a 70 something in the first game and an 85 to 100+ run in the second game (we're not sure of the exact numbers). For non-Chicagoans, that's Ed Latimer (or Smooth Eddie, as I like to think of him).

Jesus, Eddie!

I guess you were right when you said he still had another run in him last night.

Can't wait! I would play if I didn't have a league thing earlier in the day and if I could run more than 10 balls

It ended early this morning. When I left around 2 a.m., I had just been knocked out by Bob Cozzolino and Tom Karabotsos was taking a nap in his car after taking the winner's side. Ron Shepard was playing Randy Almeida. I don't know which of them won but whoever it was, was beaten by Cozzolino who was then beaten by Sergio Perez.

Sergio and Tom cut up first and second prize, probably late.

Cozzolino beat Bobby Hunter in the first round. I eventually played Bobby and was up 97-51 when he ran 41 on me and jawed a ball with 4 on the table. All he needed was a break shot and a few more. When his ball jawed, I was able to clean up for the win. It was neat to have beaten him, but he was a bit tired. I heard he had been up late working. Early on a lot of balls rattled on him, then he concentrated and had that run.

Coz then had me 70 to 34 when I ran 34 on him and missed a shot that I guess I could not quite see, cuz I nicked a ball trying to get to it. He cleaned up that rack, got a break shot and that was about it for me. I think he beat me 100-71.

When I had left, Karabotsos had the high run of 56, Coz had a 48 and Sergio Perez had a couple of 40+ runs. I don't know if there were any higher runs later.
