Straps and Pads.

Agree leather on leather but it would be nice to have a padded, non slip, wide strap
The last link in my above post has some nice options.
 
Check out the "Claw Grip" slings for guns.It's the material that they are made from. They do not slip off your shoulder. John B.
 
I feel the double backpack straps on the Wave cases are like a god send, but an see how they might not look right on some cases, and leather in particular.

For single straps with a pad, I'd love to see the pad have a material on the bottom similar to this soft inside of a coat I have:

Montana Sling

Were not carrying a case very far. I have carried rifles all over Alaska for days on end for over 47 years. The best sling I have found is the Montana Rifle Sling. A nice piece of brown or black leather that can be adjusted with one hand. I have back packs made by the best in the business, the straps are padded and strong and will carry moose quarters forever. We don't have 100 pound cue cases. I bet Montana Slings would work with you. I sent you an e-mail about making me a custom extra long case and never heard from you. I had money to give you, some one else has it now. Maybe another time when your not so busy?
 
this is totally self serving for me, as this would be MY idea for the perfect straps on a case...
but if you were able to use a design similar to this:

minus that actual "Camelbak" portion (who needs to carry drinking water in their case), but as far as design goes... Imagine integrating this style of little backpack into an ultimate rugged case!

You would essentially have an ultimate rugged slid into the little backpack with the bag portion stiched into the case. This would allow many useful functions in a case that do not currently exist. First of which, and the most obvious being the storage. Think about the expo style tournaments where you walk around all day carrying you case. I allows you to carry a bottle of water, some snacks, a place to put your phone, your wallet etc. It would easily allow all the normal pockets on the case, but would have functional storage for other things you might want to carry. Also if you use this style of backpack as your strap design, and keep the straps at the BOTTOM of the case, it would allow motorcycle riders to comfortably carry their case while they ride, without having to either go ACROSS their back, or having their case push down on the seat behind them. If the straps were at the bottom of the case, when worn it would allow the bottom of the case to ride at or above the belt line. Once you strap up with your case, and use the "clip strap" to connect the two shoulder straps, you would essentially have a case being worn so comfortably, that you would forget you are wearing it.
I will attempt some photoshopping to give you an idea of what it might look like.

If I had one (and only one) complaint about my Justis case it would be the strap is not the most comfortable throwing it over the shoulder carrying the case. The case isn't necessarily heavy having only have my cue, break cue, and one extra shaft....however it seems to get pretty uncomfortable fairly quickly on the shoulder. Usually that isn't a big deal as I only carry the case to walk into the pool hall and then set it down. There are rare times though where I am waiting to get into a place holding it over my shoulder...not really a big complaint, more of a small one.

This is the same way I feel. However, you can flip the brass hook to point upwards so it doesn't dig into your shoulder.

I would also look into guitar straps and other options that are similar (messenger bags, hiking/backpacking gear, etc). A fixed pad is the way to go.
 
Thanks everyone. Some very good suggestions. Some which have been mentioned to me before as well, thanks for those who took the time then and now.

I promise that case straps and pads will get better.

For the time being - I wanted to give a shout out to Seyberts who sells a replacement from a brand they own called PoolGods. www.seyberts.com

I saw someone with a set of them on a rugged case at the BCA/CSI nationals and tried them and they were very comfy. So if you need new straps now those seem to be pretty good for the money imo.

My JB case is great, but the strap does slip off the shoulder. My Timbuk2 messenger bag for work is also great, but the strap also slips off my shoulder.

Surely, there most be something that will be a bit more sticky and nonslip. Some sort of space-age polymer?

Some people might be. I often carry mine a 1/2 mile to my home league location. People in large cities might carry theirs over a fair distance plus public transportation.

Pockets and D Rings

What about a hidden pocket on the strap.

Also a D ring on the strap for me to clip my keys on so they are handy when i'm getting in the car with my phone the score sheet and all the other random crap i have to carry when i leave league night.
