So let me ask this. What is the opinion of nylon straps with a nice shoulder pad on a leather case vs a leather strap?
Chuck
Leather strap with leather case- no question about it.

IMO the shoulder pad should be attached to the strap instead of just sliding over it. The pad on my rugged is always sliding down and I have to move it back up to the top before putting the case over my shoulder. Another thing is that the shoulder pad should be designed to go to the very end of the strap and as close to the back of the case as possible. I often find with the rugged strap that the metal hook piece at the top of the strap digs into my shoulder because the pad doesn't reach back far enough. The strap on my poison soft case was very comfortable, but then the vinyl on the top side of the pad began to rip.
John,
The best feeling shoulder strap I have experience with is made by a company that specializes in quality messenger and laptop bags: http://www.sfbags.com/products/shoulder-strap-shoulder-pad
Adjustable length, padded, nylon mesh straps that can stretch a little. Non-slip pad that works well over both cloth and leather.
Were not carrying a case very far. I have carried rifles all over Alaska for days on end for over 47 years. The best sling I have found is the Montana Rifle Sling. A nice piece of brown or black leather that can be adjusted with one hand. I have back packs made by the best in the business, the straps are padded and strong and will carry moose quarters forever. We don't have 100 pound cue cases. I bet Montana Slings would work with you. I sent you an e-mail about making me a custom extra long case and never heard from you. I had money to give you, some one else has it now. Maybe another time when your not so busy?
I need a case that has two outer "flaps" butterfly style, that when closed, hides the zip or buckles to open the cue storage area. The flaps actually serve a dual purpose; on one flap I can slide an iPad in to display a score keeping app while playing , and the other flap has a freezable insert in a pouch larger enough to hold my favorite bottle of adult refreshment.
The premium model would also have small rechargeable Bluetooth speakers installed in the flaps as well, so you could listen to music or use the case as a speaker phone. (Would come in handy for a conference call or lessons via phone)
The strap should be padded with a no slip surface and would retract into the case itself when not needed.
Some interesting requests. If I build it will you buy it?![]()
