I just returned from a tournament in Mt.Pleasant, Michigan and on Friday night a guy challenged anyone to arm wrestle for $1000.00, they didn't even need to win, just hold him for 6 seconds. Chris tried him and was easily beaten so no-one else tried cause Chris is pretty good. We find out after that he is some kind of swedish champion. He gave Chris a chance to get his money back playing 9-ball race to 15, Chris asked one of the best players at the tournament to play for him and in a very close set Chris got his money back but strong arm John played real good and other than a few mistakes he should have won. I am sure someone out there knows this guy and can tell us some really cool stories because from what I saw I imagine this guy has had an amazing life, by the way apparently John is 63 years old!!!

John is a friend of mine. John plays pool plenty damn good also.

One of my favorite all time stories is about John and his girlfriend (ex).

I know the story you are talking about Pittsburgh Mike Katsaris told me all about it sometime ago! John was a wild one!

SA john came here to Baltimore about 10 years ago and stay for awile, the man beat everybody he played, plays jam up on tiny tim!

Spent an hour last night talking with him about other times he was hustling some guys in Detroit and also his old poolroom, Sticks and Stones, in Indy back in the 1990s. He had the best "C" tournament I have ever seen. Anyone could play except for the top tier guys and sometimes he would have 200+ people in the tournament. Aside from the great tournament and tons of action, one thing was guaranteed..... the mens room was small and there was only one in the place and the plumbing had issues each tournament and was a very unpleasant place to go to. Wierd the things we remember but it was a great tournament and he always encouraged action.

Wait, what? Don't leave us hanging.

OK,OK....jeeez

I was the TD of a Texas Express 9-Ball Tournament in NW Chicago (Sharkys I think).

On Saturday, SA John played himself to the final board scheduled to start on Sunday morning.

Late Saturday evening a very attractive young Lady ran in and started studing the finals chart. Before I could get over to her she was gone. I didn't think much of it and just plain let it go.

On Sunday morning I started calling the matches and SA John was nowhere around. I gave him 15 minutes from the call and then had to forfeit John from the scheduled match.

About 20 minutes later in walked SA John. He walked over to the charts and stood there with a strange look on his face. I approached John and asked him, what happened?

"Last night I drove up to the front door and my girlfriend, excuse me.....my ex-girlfriend ran in to see what time I was to play this morning." Last time that will ever happen."

I paid John his earned prize money and he thanked me like a gentleman and promptly left.

I have never seen her with SA John again.

I am surprisd CJ has not added to this thread. I believe he and John spent time on the road together.
SA had to pick up on TOI!!:D

A few years back I was watching the DCC stream, some guy got SAJ in an 8 ball game. The guy broke and ran the 1st rack. John won the 2nd game and then did a safety break on every rack after, not even driving balls to the rail. The guy didn't say anything and John eventually won. Weakest shit I have ever seen, but anything to get the money I guess.

When gambling you have to set the ground rules before playing. I always ask them to play BCAPL rules. When breaking you have to get 4 object balls to the rail, does away with the super soft, safety break.
I would have brought this up the first time SAJ broke soft. Just sayin....

S.A. JOHN saw me use the TOI Technique was against Jimmy Wetch

Yes, you're right. The first time S.A. JOHN saw me use the TOI Technique was against Jimmy Wetch and he said it was "the highest 9 Ball speed I've ever seen". I always took that as a pretty good compliment because John's seen most of the best players play at one time or another.
