When do you guys feel as though you had a successful practice session? Is it after 3 racks, 4 racks, what?! I know everyones number will be different, based on high run, amount of practice time etc..........but I was wondering. Especially you hundred ball runners...............is 50+ your number and you feel like ......hmmm o.k. I am hitting 'em good tonight?

I know if I get through 2 racks and into my third, I feel I am hitting them good that night. Certainly not my high run, but I feel like my practice was productive.

I don't have a high run in mind because what if I run a decent run in my first inning or two (which happens). If I'm in gear with practice, I usually hit balls for about 1.5 hours regardless how I'm hitting them. Since a typical game to 100 is about that long, I like to practice for that long so it helps me condition my "playing constitution."

Being very new to 14.1, I begin practice by breaking the pack from different angles to get my head into things, and then I just try to work my way through a rack. I regularly stop and re-set shots that give me trouble, but again, being new, I often overlook larger patterns during shooting, only to have light bulb moments later (usually on the walk home or somesuch). At this stage, I'm just looking for some continuity, so a 10-ball run without having to travel the length of the table 5 times is cause for MUCH celebration.

I know what you mean. Where I am now getting into the 20's is a good number. I can't even imagine what a 50 would feel like. Holy pressure, Batman!

I always take away any memories I can of any shots I played perfectly; it reinforces the feelings that I am improving every time I play, even if I don't play every shot perfectly.

If I can get through one rack and break the next, right now that's a great day. But I know with some focused practice and guidance from some more experienced players that some day the racks will flow together with the fluidity of a waterfall...

I dont think a Practice Session should be based on any ball count, as long as you feel you pocketted every shot well and controlled the cue ball with confidence.

There are some days where the racks just won't open no matter how you attack it, and that shouldnt be brought into the equation of how you practice session went.

For me i try to run the racks clean and even if i dont tie several of them together as long as i played them clean and solved the pattern problems early on in the racks i feel as though that it was a good session !!

To me a good practice session is not defined by balls pocketed.
I think realizing why things happen and having a concept on how
to correct shortcomings is a good practice.
Properly playing position, reading clusters correctly, and playing with
confidence is a great practice session.
I often play on very sub-standard equipment so it is easy to become very
frustrated by holding a "balls run" standard.
