Okay I currently shoot with a Meucci w/ black dot, started shooting with friends Meucci Original, now I don't like my black dot near as much.

How much difference will there be between Meucci and Schon?
What difference will there be?

Is the Schon really worth the money?
Thanks guys.

I've never owned a Meucci but they're known to have a softer hit and generate lots of cueball action. I owned a Schon and it was a very solid cue. You can expect a forward balance, stiff shaft and thin butt with a Schon. Generally quite a bit different style of play from a Meucci.

Schons command a high price and I wouldn't spring for an expensive one; it probably won't play any better or hold its value any better (unless it's a 1/1). But they're as good as some custom cues so I'd say it depends how much you've got to spend. I see lots of players with them and they hold up well, Meuccis and cheaper production cues seem to have problems over the long term.

Everyones' opinions and preferences vary. If at all possible play with several brands as much as possible before deciding.

I've owned both an older Meucci gambler that played very well and a Schon Ltd that IMO was excellent in every way.

Do a forum search for Meucci comments. Personally I think the two brands are as different as night and day for holding their value, quality construction, stiffness of hit, playability and customer service. I think the higher level that you play the more you would appreciate Schon's qualities. You didn't mention a budget for your new cue but if it's $450 or more I'd buy the Schon in a heartbeat. Meucci would be down about 34th on my list.

Erik Lee is an excellent cue dealer and carries Schon's and other brands at reasonable prices. http://www.erikleecues.com/index.html Good luck cstepro.:)

I agree and couldn't have said it any better. I have hit with both meucci, originals and schons, high end and basic. I would go with a low to mid end schon all day long over a meucci and I love cue ball action. Between these two, you just can't go wrong with a schon if you can afford one.

It depends on how much you like your Meucci and how much money you have. You say now you don't like your cue as much, however, usually Schon cues play quite differently than Meuccis (both yours and your friends I bet).
In my opinion, if you have the money, buy the Schon. Probably more foreward balanced and easier to play with; built nicer as well. That's my preference. good luck.

This is very good advice and I agree!

Well I can afford a Schon, but I'm just worried that I'm so used to a "whipy" stick and hits soft that a stiffer shaft will cause me problems if the schon is soo much stiffer.
I enjoy having alot of qball action, (maybe too much! lol) and i enjoy the stick being a little whipy, the schon shaft does have some give to it don't it?
Or should i just try to find an original?

i had a shon and i liked it. i also had a meucci and i liked that for a while(not so much anymore) yeah it'll probably cause some problems , the cues playing differently that is. but you'll learn to adapt. if you're stroke's good you should still be able to get as much actoin with the schon but you might have to try harder at first. if you buy it new you might have to change the tip too

My first cue was a Schon (Runde era). I got it out the other day and used a Predator shaft on it to compare to my Bender. They both play and feel great. Can't really tell much difference between them. I like the Schon over a Meucci.

I don't know how the new Schons play but if you are going to pay over $800 I would go with a custom cue such as a Schurtz. There are many good custom cue makers that are about the same price as a Schon.

Shurtz, and here is an $800 Shurtz cue that I have always liked. BE with Coco points, black and white veneers, SS joint, 24 ivory inlays. Half splice points.

To be fair though, go look at the Schons listed here:
(I like CX-22, CX-08, CX-24, CX-52)

$800? That is outright stealing. I still say Schurtz cue's are under priced. That is my story and I am sticking to it.

Quit it ....

They are 'Rightly' priced, and if you hit with one, you will think they are really rightly priced .... LOL No, Bob makes a real good cue. They play great. He makes a good Break/Jump cue too, and he makes his own versions of the 314-1 and 314-2 shafts which a lot of people don't know.

If you like the hit of the Meucci, you'll
find Schon weird. Almost exact opposite
in the way they hit.
