Super Billiards Expo thread

Slow down just 10% and you'll never miss a ball. That extra moment of concentration makes all the difference.
Hey Jay, you say "extra moment" as if Keith already takes at least 1 moment. :D

Here's Keith and Californian Young Gun Tony "T-Rex" Chohan sporting the Hustlin brand. Tony had a nice little mini run at the action table this year, too! ;)

The clothing line is getting ready to be launched in Europe. The first time I saw the Hustlin logo was at the Derby City Classic in Louisville a few years ago, brought to Louisville by Tony Chohan. The Hustlin items were a definite hit this year at the Super Billiards Expo! There are already limited edition shirts which are now collector's items. :)

It was a pleasure meeting you JAM (finally, lol) as well as Rich Reheard, who seems to be pretty nice. :) However, I can not take credit for any of those cues...but thank you for the kind words. ;) I just happened to be the one on "duty" when you passed by, lol. It was great seeing old Valley Forge/pool industry friends!!! :D One day down, three left to go....plenty of time to play...right after a good nights sleep...it's been a fun day, but a loooooooooooooooong day!

JAM has to be talking about this coat...

Cocktails on Nine

The action is fast and furious. There were not one, not two, but three Diamond bar boxes engaged in action, each with a different theme. I estimate the crowd to be about 250 to 300 at different times sweating the challenge matches.

Virginia's Mark "The Painter" and Maryland Young Gun Shawn Wilke played an 8 ahead set for an undisclosed sum. Plenty of side action was on the rail. Painter got to the hill three times, and Shawn fought back. When Shawn had a little roll and ran a 6-plack, he had his own set of loyal fans rooting him in. Mark finally managed to take it down, but the entertainment that was provided kept everybody captivated at that particular table.

On another table, there was a proposition game of a two-ball run. I didn't quite get it, but the 60 or so people surrounding the table seemed to. Two balls were set up at different spots on the table, with one of them laying close to the middle of the end rail. If the player runs these two positioned balls, he wins.

The InsidePOOL party was packed, and folks were enjoyin the hospitality suite with plenty of beverages of choice. It was standinge room only. At one point, Shannon Daulton and Little John sang a few country songs in perfect harmony, karoke style but without the music. Shannon is actually a good singer. :)

Charlie Williams defeated Keith McCready yesterday 10 to 7, knocking Keith out of the Pro event. Today, the Pro/Am tournament begins at 7:00 p.m, a $300 entry fee limited to 32 players on the bar boxes. Today, Fabio Petroni beat Dennis Hatch on the winner' side. Charlie "Hillbilly" Bryant beat Danny "Kid Delicious" Basavich on the B side. When I left the pro arena, Hillbilly was getting ready to play Shannon Daulton.

The action table was the focal point of my Friday night activities. There were quite a few heavy hitters posting up a C-note to play one game of 10-ball, hoping to hold the table for a while. Some of the action players included Little John, Keith McCready, Scooter, Sugar Shane, Ryan McCreesh, Tony Ruberto, Maryland Young Gun Shawn Wilke, Dennis Hatch, Frankie Hernandez, Jason Kirkwood, Jesse Bowman, Tony Chohan, just to name a few. The crowd was huge surrounding the one 7-footer designated for challenge games. The action was hot and heavy, too, with more action on the rail than in the middle.

The Derby City Classic may have the Louie Roberts A/E Award for the BEST action and entertaining player, and here at the SBE, I bestow this award to Little John. He was calling all bets and is an absolute Southern gentleman, with charm to boot. Most folks didn't know who Little John was, seeing him in the pit, and were asking: Who is this guy in the brown sweater? The East Coast welcomes Little John with open arms, and he's been a favorite for many railbirds and players alike.

Tonight at 7:00 p.m. begins the Pro/Am tournament, $300 entry fee, limited to 32 players on the bar tables.

There are quite a few lady pros here, and there is talk that they are going to hold a ladies pro tournament tonight. CarolNYC, Sarah Rousey, Dawn Hopkins, Katrina (Niels Feijen's lady) are some of the players who will be competing.

The AzBilliards Meet and Greet will occur tonight at Chumley's beginning at 7:00 p.m. at Chumley's, the bar in the Radisson Hotel.

Everybody is having a blast here, with more folks showing up today. You can't find a parking spot in the lot. It's packed. The vendors I spoke to said they're having a great event with good sales. This is the BEST exhibition for pool stuff I've ever been to.

Brandon Ashcroft has challenged Keith to a match on the bar box for an undisclosd amount, playing even. Keith is confident he can beat him, and other experienced handicappers I have spoken to say Brandon plays topnotch on the 7-footer. Gee, I can hardly wait to see this one!

Just a snippet of the activities here in Valley Forge. More to follow!

8 WPBA players played a 3 set race to 7 on the bar boxes. Match up thus far were Tiffany Nelson v. Carol Clark, Gina Kim- Lipsky v. Vall Finnie, Kelly Fisher v. Kim Shaw, and Sarah Rousey v. Melissa Little. Winners of the matches are as follows: Nelson, Finnie, Fisher, and Rousey. The next maches will be at 11 am (I think). The match ups are currently unknown to the players. These matches were and will continued to be played in open view for the public to enjoy free of charge. :)

I didn't get a chance to watch anything but the pro event so I can only speak for that part.... Even with Shawn's flawless play this weekend, the best set was when Joey K beat Archer. I can't remember the last time I sweated a match that hard. That was huge for Joey!! WOW, great game!!

Shannon Daulton won the pro am on the bar boxes this afternoon. I love watching Shannon play because of his shooting style... fast, & hard... the games are always fun & interesting to watch. I'm sorry that I missed his sets in the pro am tourney but I was in the pro arena watching Shawn Putnam work his magic.

I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure that Keith & Brandon hadn't matched up as of Sun afternoon. Brandon was at the InsidePOOL party last night and I can assure you that he was in no shape to play pool. He had a 8am match in the pro am this morning and once he lost out, he watched the finals in the pro arena. All I know about today is that Dennis Hatch "drilled" (his words) Brandon in the pro am today. Brandon didn't mention anything about any action. I do know that he's not leaving until tomorrow and was looking to find some action tonight.

Due to some friends having matches at the 7 & 9 pm matches in the pro arena, I wasn't able to get over to Chumley's, so I do not know how the meet & greet went. I did want to stop by but I really wanted to watch the matches and as usual... pool won. :-)

As always it was a GREAT event... I watched ALOT of good pool and drank ALOT of alcoholic beverages... A big thanks to JR & Sally for the InsidePOOL party, they do a great job when it comes to hosting parties.

As far as the small women's Pro tourney....Nelson defeated K. Fisher and Rousey defeated Finnie. The final was Nelson v. Rousey. Nelson finished first place while Rousey settled for second.

I attended the AZ party for a few....several folks were present from here as well as the CCB. Seemed like everyone had a good time...several stayed awhile, lmao.

I concur with the statement about JR's parties!!!!!! Wow!!! Timberly- did I meet you??

Nice to have met you Rumberly.

Fury

Hello everyone,
I had to come back a day early due to tournament schedules for the Fury Amateur 9-Ball Tour. I was at the Fury booth working, or at least looking like I was working ;) Had a lot of fun. It was my first time there and it was very exciting. There was so much going on in our booth I didn't get to see any of the matches. I wish I'd made it to the AZ party but I never got the word as to when it was. I learned a lot and had a lot of fun. Now I am back home and will be running tournaments and adding more divisions. It was great to meet people that I have either talked to or emailed too. Plus all the other people there. Everyone was so nice and I'd like to take this time to thank all the people who came by our booth and who spoke with me that I really appreciate it.

No, no, Timberly. I know that YOU would never drink any alcoholic beverages. And I hope that you took it easy on Janis if you got him involved. I thought he got broken from sucking eggs when he was in Athens :D . Right, Mj?

I'll see you somewhere soon, I'm sure.
