Superspeed Cushions- Has the quality became any better.

I remember all the horror stories with Superspeeds becoming rock hard and turning to red sand in a short time. Matter of fact, I am about to change some out now on a Gold Crown 3. Has Brunswick produced better quality rubber here lately? Black Diamonds are on backorder right now and Artemis is out of the customers price range. Some new superspeeds will be arriving soon to my supplier, so they should be fresh.

Any comments?

The superspeed cushions were going bad on the 3s because Brunswick couldn't keep up with tables after the color of money....the orders were crazy.
The cushions play great if installed properly.
The cut edge is not very good like on the Artemis...but if you get them on correctly I don't think there's a better cushion out there for pool.
I just cut off a sub rail on a GC4....and the sub rail was like new.....my table I was selling....I wanted to see if there was much difference in the playability in the rails changing the nut plate out and using the inserted female nut that diamonds uses in there rails
I also used my spec's on the sub rails....table played awesome.
I'm going to do the same thing to my GC5 table I practice on.
Taking the Artemis cushions off and change the nut plate out and putting superspeed cushions on.
Just because I think the table plays great....doesn't make it true....but I been playing for 40 years and think I know how a table should play.

No, Superspeed cushions are still just as bad. We replace Superspeed cushions all the time, even on tables that are pretty new(~3 years old).

If you want a cushion that will never harden, get Accu-Fast. It will outlast any other cushion, and play much better.

.02 from me

With all do respect...The Accufast will outlast any cushion, But that being said it will not play nearly as well as SuperSpeed on any rail that has the thickness needed for K55 cushions. The Accufast is to soft of a cushion & meant for thin K66 type rails. Just my 2 cents. Have a safe and Happy Labor Day weekend!

Don't know about the super speed cushions that your using.....or where your getting them from.

I get them direct from Brunswick and have not had one problem for the last 8 years or more.
I've had them on several tables we gamble on here in Atlanta...and have yet to have one problem.

And I am sure if West Penn dealt exclusively with Brunswick they would be swapping out accufast cushions with super speeds

Follow the money.

a simple durometer test could answer the question of 'softness'
which in turn would answer the question of performance.

would a consumer want perfect performance for a few years
or
blah performance for a lifetime

?

these are the days of our lives...
