Suspicious about Frost-Reyes match

efren is in his 50s and is human. he cant always play like a god.
plus scott is one of the best there is in 1hole.gotta give him some credit

I agree. Efren is getting older and starting to miss some difficult shots that use to be hangers. And yes...........he is even missing some easy shots. Don't we all. It's called: "loss of concentration".

I think Efren played his best against Scott. Albeit it was not his speed of two years ago. He may have had a disadvantage by being at Scott's home room etc., but Scott is a monster player. If anyone can intimidate Efren a liitle it would be Scott.

As far as Efren dumping............I will never believe that. And if he did dump, don't you think he is good enough to do it without us knowing. I mean it is not going to be obvious like: WOW! Efren just missed a straight in 2 foot shot. He must be dumping. He would dump with a 4 rail finese' shot that barely gave the edge of a ball to his opponent so it would be an easy run out.

Of course with his lifelong Phillipine buddy Francisco.........well.......anything is possible. But, I think he would have just gone ahead and won and gave Francisco the money if he really thought he needed it.

But then again if he can get you rich American boys money and bring it back to the poor Phillipino families and dumping is the only way....... then he might do it. He is a humanitarian you know.

As far as the match with Frost, I didn't see it so I have no opinion on it. I guess there's nothing wrong with wanting to believe the best about one of the legends of the games.

Maybe, if it were the prize money we were talking about. I don't see how Efren would be able to give him his half of the 1st place calcutta money though since Efren didn't buy half of himself(he went for a little over 1K). They do call him the Magician though so who knows, he may have been able to pull that rabbit out of his hat.:winknudge:

IMHO it's not unbelievable to think that either of these events took place, these are pro pool players we're talking about.;)

this stuff happens all the time, and the people who claim they "know" the player didn't dump are full of it too.

the fact is, 99 times out of 100 the two players and MAYBE like one or two other people (which are the guys the players may have running around making side bets) know about dumps. and the people who do know are the most trusted associates of the players, and they will not tell ANYONE. the player who is dumping usually gets a little more of a take home cus he is risking more if somebody happens to find out. these are just facts and it happens all the time. it's sad i think, but it's business in a sport with no money. i have always contended if golfers had no money they'd do it too. can't wait to see that big match where a pro is coming in to play the top pro in your area? good chance it's gonna be a dump, sorry but it's true.

speaking of dumping, has anyone ever seen the challenge of champions in vegas where, for the first time, vegas set a line on the players. mike lebron went off at 20 to 1. i recorded about 5 of the matches, still have them on tape. guess who won? right, lebron. haha, it was seriously bad, and seriously obvious. and vegas refused to set lines on pool eets after that, i dont know how they stand today?

let me ask a question, as one poster put it, efren was out driking and partying the night before. that is supposed to be evidence for his innocence in this matter?? i may argue the opposite saying, if you want to win money and feed yourself why are you partying the night before a big match unless you KNOW you're just gonna cut it up in any case.

I think I remember that event where Lebron wins it, was that the one where he plays Buddy Hall in the final and Buddy is very blatantly dumping and yet Lebron is still having a hard time winning? I remember Buddy looking almost exasperated when he'd miss a shot and lebron still couldn't get out.

It reminds me of Yonkers Raceway in the early 90's, it was obvious that the last race on the nightly card was fixed and the winner and usually the horse to place would be long shots, and you'd usually have a very high paying trifecta. That went on for a few years before they cracked down on it.

Just got mine yesterday in the mail, and the game wasn't 5 innings old when I got an old sensation I haven't had in a while---it's called DUMP. Efren's early shot selections are questionable at best and suspicious on the whole. I'm going to get slammed for this post, don't care, but I've been watching superlative play from Efren for many years, and things don't add up. For instance on the fifth shot of the match Efren knocked in one of Frost's hangers, but whereas he always kills the cb into the pack after doing so, he lets the cb drift up table, giving Frost several possible banks. An open-minded person would at least consider the evidence on this dvd.

This was an exibition match. Efren does not dump! Nobody got dumped!
There was no action on this match. It seems like every time he misses a ball someone thinks it's business.

Geez, Ken. Are you seriously claiming that Efren accidentally misses? C'mon now! :D

Efren dumped to Busti at that Joss tournament. No doubt about that.

I've even seen a player get all their friends together when that player doesn't want to play in the tournament anymore (and would rather go gamble), and they have one friend bet against the player, till that line closes, and then have another friend go bet till the next one closes, and each time, a game gets added to the line to adjust, till the book stops taking bets.

I have then watched as the player played the WORST match of their life, losing to a total idiot, and SCALPED the book, totally cleaning up on bets.

I have also watched as a really close match's line goes "pick don't 8" in a race to 9 and i remember one match in particular, when betting on the match went completely out of hand, how one of the books associates ended up talking with both the players, and how mysteriously it was also an awful match, went hill hill and the book cleaned up.

Pool players want to make the most money they can.
They are going to do that by any means possible if it is in their best interest.

Dumping is a fact of pool life.
Get used to it.

WAIT A SECOND...are you guys trying to tell me Efren misses...but...missing is for humans...

Watched Parica and Joyner lay out a huge dump in Roanoke Va. at a 1hole tourny some years back. Picked cleaned the 2 biggest bookies in town on that one.

Big surprize eh....From that point on I have never bet on pros nor trusted one.

Without having seen the match I have to say there is not a Filipino player who will not do business. I saw one where they split the money in the final and fixed the final to steal the Calcutta. They are tretchurous to say the least.
