I was looking at the teams for the bonus ball matches and noticed that Shane Van Boening isn't listed on a team. Is that an error or is Shane not participating. If he isn't anyone know the reason he isn't?

He may sub in during the season I guess.

I would think he does not want to be tied down for 6 months doing this league and being restricted to play some tournaments. Just my guess.

This has been answered in many threads now. Shane has played Bonus Ball and has played in our videos. He participated in our very first professional tournament three years ago. He has been in as a captain and as of today, he is out.

We would also love to have Nick Varner, Francisco Bustamante and Ralf Souquet, just to name a few others. These players are favorites of mine but simply can't commit to a structured league that requires the participation that this professional league requires. Money always talks! A new league without any proven track record just can't pay out big money without a solid fan base, sponsorship and television rights. Just ask KT. Reality is, someone has to pioneer this. We still have thirty-six extremely talented players well worth supporting and to entertain you.

As of now, Shane is the lone, big name American player, that has decided to sit out and watch the league develop and grow. It's a free country and if he wants to do that, it is his choice. It is a shame that Shane's fans and other viewers will not see him playing in this professional league. He is a top player that will be missed. We love Shane and if he changes his mind, I'm sure any team would love to have him. We certainly would welcome him in too!

I would not be surprised if he puts on a uniform again. When all his peers are playing in the big show, it is only a matter of time when he will want to do the same. There have been many great players wanting to play but only so many spots were available. That is why we chose not to pick any players but leave that to our captains. Next season, it would be nice to have a different system in place, like other professional leagues. Drafts, trades and more franchises would be the something for us to entertain in the future! For now, this is what has made the most sense. You have to start somewhere.

That is a question that you need to ask the captains. There was no rule against choosing women. This game is ideal for woman players too.

Or you could have chosen one or two female captains such as Allison Fisher or Ga Young Kim and not relied on your 100% male captain base to "let" the women have a try too.

Ga Young doesn't live on American soil, which makes it pretty unrealistic for the top overseas women to play. The logistics just don't quite work for this opening season, but hopefully that will change in time.

Speaking strictly skill-wise, would you have picked any women living in the US over any of the current captains?

Can I just answer this speaking only on skill? I would put Kelly Fisher in all day any day. I believe she can run out a rack as well as any living human. She beats the ten ball ghost on tight equipment.

Although she doesn't have the one pocket experience I think her snooker background gives her enough understanding of strategy to compete well in this game.

Would I take anyone out and substitute her? No, nor would I take her out and put anyone else in her place if she were on any of the teams.

Do I think that this league could benefit from the inclusion of women? Yes I do and I also think that any such inclusion should be earned and not given merely because of gender.

My bias swings in Kelly's favor because she is my friend and the woman whose game I know best. I certainly feel that Allison, Karen Corr, Jeanette, Jasmin, Ga Young and many other possess the skill to play in this league.

I further make the assertion that there are some players who are playing in the league who probably do not want to gamble on their own money with Kelly and some of the other top women. Not for anything that hurts anyway. Yes I know this will touch off a firestorm and before you all go off please consider that some of these ladies have backers that you can talk to in order to arrange a game. Kelly certainly does and appointments can be made. Her backer is not hard to find.

If getting TV coverage and big time sponsors is the goal, get some good looking women in there ASAP.
