SVB and Skyler Forfeit out of the 10 Ball Challenge Match

They were using the "new" Cyclop ball sets. Cyclop is a sponsor of all CSI promoted events along with Diamond Billiard products. Most Pro players are used to the Aramith ball sets. Hate to say it but the Cyclops do play differently. Even to an amatuer like me.

Lyn

Much different from what I'm told however for me maybe cause I play with a light cue I like them but I'm in a big minority ,

Onepocket,

Were you aware that for the $10 fee at the door to watch the event, Griff's gave you a $10 coupon to buy food, drink or table time? Sounds like pretty much FREE to me. Yes, spectating was not like the old VIP days but it was pretty good!

Wish I could have stayed in Vegas for the US Open 8 Ball. I'd be at Griff's every day. So should YOU and your friends!

Lyn

That was very generous of Griff's. They do not make an offer like that at the Music City Open in Nashville, but they may need that door money going toward the added money that they add to the payout. I do not know.

Like you, I've had no issues whatsoever with Cyclop balls. The Measle cueball is a different story completely

Iv heard that also , however I've heard several times when I complained about such things and the top guys muttered " the better players are the ones who can adapt to the conditions ".

Not saying I know the reason... BUT

Giving many of the pro players being at these events... could it be that some feel that the smaller payout events would be better if they let others share in the rewards... I am not saying this is the reason... but it sure would be nice to know that there are some players who feel this way!!

Besides if players stay greedy... & don't allow others to get rewards... then it hurts the whole industry as a whole!! Just adding to the discussion... :-)

Just some food for thought...

Ever wonder why the Filipino's do so well? Ever hear them complain about the equipment or the playing conditions? They just adapt. Why are most American pro players so vocal about everything that isn't to their liking?

Griff's is new and quality but could have had some bleachers for the sweaters during the 10 ball. It was worth the $10.00 admission just talking to the ticket girl. The tickets got me enough beers to get to the Happy Hour bargains.

My friend and I went to Good Times during the afternoon but it was dead - no action.

The Rio could have had some Action tables, practice tables and seats while waiting for the Minies. I sweated James Aranas vs Kiamco in the Finals for free - it should have been on the TV tables. Oh yeah, the $8.00 beers came with a bag of chips.

Be well Lyn - not a kid anymore but younger than me.

Was it these Cyclop?

Thats like putting the junkie in charge of the supply
Jason

Not sure if this is the worst idea I've ever heard, but there's a chance.

Oscar is running a tour. Tony R is running a tour. There are probably 4 or 5 more players that run tours. You can't blanket ALL pro players together. Johnnyt

We're talking about the ones that are here....please, try to keep up.

I heard they met two nice and respectable ladies and decided to take them out for dinner and to see a movie. After that the four of them were going to go eat some ice cream and talk about the movie.
Followed by a bottle of Patron and a tag-team. ;)

Americans send their best players to the closest thing to the Olympics pool will ever see?? Nah, they would rather grumble about the state of the game.
You really want to go to Poland? I can't believe Wilkie was there. He must have drawn the short straw. Place still looks like the Russians are in charge. Only upside to Warsaw is the vodka and the very available ladies. Maybe Wilkie's smarter than he looks. ;)

What was the possible prize money they forfeited?

With both players forfeiting:
- Shane finished 9th/12th for $200.
- Skyler finished 5th/6th for $440.
- So, combined, they won $640.

With both players continuing:
- One of them would have finished 5th/6th for $440, because they would have played each other in that round if Shane had won two additional matches.
- The other one of them could have gone as far as winning the event, which paid $2,000.

So the range for how much money they potentially forfeited goes from zero (if both had lost their next scheduled matches) to $1,800 (if one had gone on to win the event).

Thanks for the explanation. :)
