Just one simple idea I wanted to advocate…..

Anyone who says that we should "cut", "not take", "look over"….. SVB for the next 10 or so MC trips (at least)…… should probably be banned from AZ for lack of pool knowledge….

Seriously…. your real understanding of talent levels and pool knowledge has to be so low that it risks harming readers.

everyone agrees that SVB s the best in the country, probobly the world right now, that doesn't change the fact that he has a shit record in the cup. I would compare him to peyton manning, the best QB of all time in my opinion, superbowl record? 1 of 3, against a backup QB in his one win. some people just don't excel in the line of fire, and maybe its the team, not the individual, but obviously the team relys on the star too much, or the star doesn't have the team to finish, so maybe a new team can put a fresh perspective out. and maybe shane needs a year off the team to give him some incentive to rxcel next time around. I'll pick SVB over anyone, this isnt a knock on the man, its just that sometimes change can be healthy.

A better comparison would be to Tiger Woods. Even when he was dominating everything on the PGA Tour, he had a losing record in the Ryder Cup. For whatever reason, Shane doesn't play well in a team format either.
 
Team plays requires a lot of things. Momentum may be number one. We've all seen great teams play bad on a given day... A team's bad play seems to assist their competition to play better.

The USA won several & Europe has won a few... our team will be back with a vengeance.
 
SVB went and played the best pool he was capable of at the time. He took the defeat with the same class he exhibits when he wins.

He's the best we have. End of story.

OK, I haven't read every post in every thread, but I've yet to read a recommendation that SVB be excluded from any future Mosconi team.

He is our best, and he should be named before any other player to Team USA.
 
Well, Shane certainly dogged some shots many of us would make routinely...but the pressure of the Mosconi cup is something we can't fathom unless we've been there.

I think the short races also entered in...

Still...Europe won. I'm pretty much over it. On to other things...

I hope the $10,000 first place money bring Shane to Lincoln City Oregon in March of 2015...BCAPL 8 Ball open, Diamond Bar Boxes...and yes, the Casino will cash the payout checks right away.

and your lack of knowledge of the difference between a great individual player and a great team player should you get banned apparently.. See tiger woods record in the Ryder cup even when he was the best in the world. He played terrible.. sub's over all record is below 500. I love svb but he looked and played like a guy uninterested in being there other then to collect a pay check. Some guys ...no matter there talent level.. don't excel in a team atmosphere just as some players in a team atmosphere play better then in individual competition. The win loss record he has in the cup speaks for itself.

For someone that calls themself the professor you sure are close minded .. maybe we should add absent minded to the front of your name.

This. In fact I think most complaints came from the fact that we weren't sending our best but the hypocritical movers and shakers along with their followers demanded that to be the wrong approach. "Team" was their excuse... as if Johnny and Rodney etc are any less of a team than Shane or Schmidt. In fact the one guy who is the furthest from a team out of our best was the one we sent.

Just send our best. End of story.

Yah because it was his fault in 2013 that the D blue coverage and allowed a 70 yard touchdown pass in the last 30 secs to the team that ended up winning the Superbowl.

2014 the entire team failed to show up....

You're an idiot when you say Peyton doesn't excel in the line of fire.
 
LOL at comparing the pressure an NFL quarterback has even during a regular season game, to playing in front of a crowd of rowdy British barflies. The stakes aren't even in the same stratosphere.
 
Shane is the best out that America has - no doubt about that. No disrespect to the rest of the USA team - but truly he is another level higher than all his teammates.

He will really shine when and if others on his team are closer to his level. Trouble is no-one else in the US is close to his level. And that is why Europe will probably keep the cup for another 5 years.

Maybe Shane should shoot the easier players.

At least shoot him earlier to try to have a few wins early........:wink:
