SVB in World 14.1: Group bracket

Anything that involves SVB in a bracket concerns me after what happened recently. Why can't the format be a regular one.

So a completely unrelated event being held by a completely unrelated promoter is tainted already, simply by Shanes participation?

Who are you calling into question with your 'concerns' ? The promoter or Shane?

And if Shane is getting preferential treatment it's because he beat the snot outta everybody on the planet. You have the same option.... practice hard and earn your turn:cool:

Looks like Shane is still taking heat for the CSI thing that wasn't his fault to begin with. The price you pay for being the best.... everybody hates you

Is there a way to block trolls like dom_poppa to posting only on the NPR or the SVB conspiracy thread.?

I'm sorry... I never reply to a poster like dom_poppa....it just satisfies their need to disturb others and of course there will now be 5 or 6 pages of senseless replies.

You do know that SVB is a public figure and a sportsman right? Therefore, if I dislike his game or his attitude then I should be able to express it. BTW, I don't dislike him but even if I did, it is not of your concern. I try to look at pool as a professional sport and state my preference for certain players.

Just like I hate the Boston Celtics, or Seattle Seahawks and Lebron James. Nobody gets criticized for bashing the teams and player I mentioned in their respective forum....

...but....

If I want to criticize a pool player then I get the mob after me?

SVB is ok...I doubt that he cares just like Lerbon doesn't care if I said I dislike him. It doesn't take away the fact that he was let back in a tournament that he choked on. Like Lebron choking in the NBA Finals.

Consider the source.

Yup, the problem was then and is now Shane haters. He advanced and then beat Ko. The Shane haters knew not to make excuses after all the "Stop making excuses for Shane" threads, so they attacked CSI.

They were just protecting the poster boy of pool.

Dislike for a player is going to happen. Just like in any sport. The golf forums loved Tiger Woods at one time and then everyone turned on him.

I expect this to happen to SVB. He is the poster child of pool and the best American player today. He is protected by many in the industry. His fans want to see him play, so rules are bent to accommodate this.

None of that is his fault.

If all of you guys would stop quoting this idiot dom_poopa, all of us who have him on our igone list would never have to see his posts

Now you're messin with Shane. I thought this was Murica.

yeah they should have called it the Shane show instead of the tar.what he plain in like 35 ofthem.

Now that is his fault.... He put himself in the position that he's who everybody wants to see. I know if Shane was on TAR I was watching.

Please explain your use of the word "choked" here. Can you give any example(s) of Shane choking in the 8-Ball event?

Shane's presence is a wonderful thing for all of us who will watch the matches either live or on stream. Watching America's best player trying his hand at the 14.1 discipline should be a real treat.

Guys like Shane Van Boening, Mike Dechaine, Justin Bergman, and Jeremy Sossei, none of them very experienced at 14.1, are all worth watching. Won't be surprised if one of them makes a deep run and posts a 5th place finish or better.

Of course, one must reckon that John Schmidt, Dennis Hatch, Johnny Archer, Max Eberle, Mike Davis, all of them previous medalists in this event, are the greater threats among the American players, but I'm glad to see these others trying their hand at 14.1. Corey Deuel and Shawn Wilkie are also very capable in the 14.1 discipline.

Good luck to all who are playing in the event.

Logic says that either Thorsten Hohmann, John Schmidt, Mika Immonen, Darren Appleton or Stephan Cohen will snap this off, but the talent pool is super-deep, so we'll see where the chips fall.
