Hey guys.
i keep hearing everyone talking about the way shane racks.
they say he splits certain balls so that the second ball back is wired for the side pocket.
one, is this true?
two, will someone elaborate please?

Do you really think so?
It probably took much practice in order to achieve that result. His opponent is able to inspect any of his racks and tell him to re rack if they feel everything is not Kosher.

Specially if the break result is the same every time. Wouldn't take long to catch on and make him rack properly.

Maybe its not so much rack gaffing as knowing how to break just right.

Just my nickels worth.

PS - Do you think I should get the pops corn machine out for this one?

i assume that youre right but everyone keeps saying thats what hes doing.
i think everybody says that when he racks them and kinda rubs the head ball backwards a little bit, that hes splitting the second row.
supposedly he and alex got into it one time about this.

Really? This again?

Alright look...

If... he is, then he deserves to have an advantage bc he put more time into his game. He took time to dissect an aspect of his game that he saw room for improvement on.

Corey did the same thing and then everyone complained and said from now on You Have to Break Hard! Ok so Shane breaks them hard! Is everyone gonna say,"He's breaking too hard, frm now on you must break below a certain speed?"

Both guys saw an area of the game that could be exploited and took the time to figure it out. Ppl who complain are the ones who can't figure it out and just blurt off Blasphmy!

If this is a true area of concern when it comes to the direction the game is heading, then I guess we'll have to do away with the rack all together. Just throw the balls on the table and pick pills out a bottle to see which ones come off the table.

Problem solved!

This is why in ALL professional matches there should be a neutral racker. This includes all TAR and challenge matches.

Totally agree. Problem is, this is just one more thing that has to be paid for. The people that would do it for free aren't qualified(mostly anyway). I personally would love to never rack the balls again! I have a bad lower back and something about the stretch that it takes for me to rack them(on a 9' table anyway) takes ALOT out of me.

Who isn't qualified to rack with the magic rack? I do understand though about the stretch. I have back problems and sometimes it kills me to lean over the table to rack. Which is another reason why I try to win more :-)

no matter what they do people are going to complain about the rack.. Maybe they should rack the 1 ball on the opposite end of the rack and bank into it on the break.. I bet someone will right a book on how to make the wing ball by banking into the one behind the rack

racking

Bottom line is everyone has the same opportunities, now if they take advantage or not thats on them. I'm actually kind of sick hearing about this. If Shane or who ever else took the time to learn that aspect of the game he shouldn't be penalized for it, its ridiculous. If the rest of the players don't want to take the time and learn shame on them, thats the evolution of the sport. If a tournament is rack your own then the nine or ten shouldn't count, and the opposing player shouldn't be allowed to check the rack in my opinion thats a move. If this was the case it would keep tournaments moving faster and *****ing to a minimum.

Duh

He,s splitting the balls he,s high racking hes twisting the rack , hes slow breaking he,s hitting them to hard.Anyone wonder why we cant get major sponsors for pool? I think in the finals every player should get Shane to spit and not play the last match . I heard Tiger is putting his ball on the tee sideways LeBron picks his nose right before he shoots.Rack the *******balls

It's not a trick, with the magic rack, I can make the second ball, sometimes both of them, about 25% of the time, with really no practice. They come withing 1 or 1/2 inch even when I don't make them. You just can't hit it too hard or on the wrong part of the 1. A cut break won't work for that.

Haters be hating.

Go ahead and hire yourself a neutral racker and my money is still on SVB.

I watched Shane at last years US Open where he went undefeated and I saw all of his matches on the TV table where he made the corner ball on every break while his opponents were sporatic making it and I couldn't see him do anything extra while racking the balls. I was there when Alex challenged his rack saying that nobody could make the corner ball every time, but the referee checked Shane's rack and had Shane re-rack some racks and there was nothing funny done to his racks and in fact he racked the balls faster than most players did. He just pushed them up and made sure they were tight and broke the balls. I heard the commentators on Accu-stats say that nobody was hitting them with the same velocity that Shane was hitting the balls with and he was actually making the corner ball fly into the corner pocket. I've played for many years and i've studied racking for my own game and from what I witnessed sitting on the front row ring side during the US Open Shane didn't do anything wrong. He just had the superior break on that table during that tournament. I heard him say during and interview that he would work on his break for hours and it shows by how well he breaks the balls. Like some of the other posters in this thread said with his success brings the negative comments thinking he can't be that good, IMO he is that good!

I heard Shane uses steroids, hates old people, kicks puppies and wipes his ass with the flag. Heard it from a guy who joined AZ this month.

No way anything could be weird there right?

If it's on the internet, it's the truth.

:slap:

For the people that don't know, pool balls are not perfectly round.

When I rack, to get the front three balls tight I will turn them a certain way and that's all it takes.

But if you don't know...well you don't know.:D
