SVB to Kick Off High Run Attempts

i read that someone used Dr. Dave's Table Difficulty Factor, and this event table is rated 'very easy'. That doesn't include the cloth, just the table size, pocket sizes and shelf.

Earlier on this thread the event people thought the table should be optimized for making big runs easy.

It is setup like a GC3 would have been setup in it's era.

Yeah drawing to the side rail or going forward to the foot rail seemed to be the most common.

The one I was talking about was Rack 10 (at about 1:49:50)
Aha. #5 and #18 were also just into the pack, not to any rail, but they didn't go up table like #10.

Are you saying he didn't say "straight pool player" ? If you'd like to bet on it, I'm your huckleberry
He said it again today, and qualified saying that everyone has a right to their opinion. But for sure, he said his opinion is that Shane is the best American straight pool player. I don’t see Bobby denying that he said this.

Why would he?

What American is currently playing and would step up to play SVB 14.1 tomorrow?

It’s like driving a car

Chance of a crash on a 1 mile drive is pretty low.

Chances of a crash on a 500 mile drive are 500X higher.

It’s linear without nerves. Add in nerves and lots can go wrong on a high run.

I made 53 spot shots in a row once. The 50th one I rattled in, was the most difficult-the mind can do funny things.

We’ll see,

So true.

If Shane spent the time on 14.1 as he has his 10B break I think we would see a much bigger number than we will.

I’m hoping he posts a huge number but he hasn’t invested the time into 14.1 to ever realize his full potential. Which makes sense as 10B is more profitable for him as a professional pool player.

Best

Having watched Schmidt’s 626 and several other of his runs, it looks to me like SVB is far more likely to take longer shots, like shots from the short side up into the far corner pockets, many times even diagonally rather than straight up the long rail. He doesn’t miss many that’s for sure, but you gotta believe that his chances would increase if he took more super-easy shots. That’s what Schmidt was so good at in his world-record run. Schmidt also was shooting faster than Shane, it looks like to me.

I, also, think he is bringing too many balls up table and leaving himself longer shots than what may be optimal.

What happened? He was taking a break after 210 so I stopped watching, and then when I came back it was over.

Hit the breakshot hard (Thorsten style drawing it up table), CB went to the end rail, was travelling up the side rail and got kicked in the side pocket by another ball.

This is one of those things where you probably need "luck" to run 600+. Not so much that good things happen by accident, but in the sense that bad things don't happen to you.

I've always liked having a few balls uptable for "outlet" shots - fortunately my breaks aren't powerful enough to overdo it.

pj <- not a straight pool player

Shane is raining 100s. Could this have been expected from the old guard like Rempe, Sigel, Mizerak, Varner, etc.? Does anyone who went through that time know? Or is it all speculation at this point? Like if we stuck Rempe on this table back in the day, would he be running all these 100s?
