Maybe there should be a rule, in matches where there's a referee of course,
that makes it ball in hand if someone does this while you're shooting.

I play a guy every Sunday who pulls every trick in the book to distract you. He will cough, get up, ask you a question, stand up if you have a shot that looks a bit iffy, etc., etc.
I tell him every week that he needs to sit his ass down and not approach the table until it is his turn. He will cut you off at the table too, if you miss. He will approach the table from your side before you can even stand up from the shot. The distance between the tables and other players make it very crowded and you will then have to walk all the way around the opposite side of the table to sit down. I tell him to wait until I get out of the way before he runs up to the table.
He plays a lot of young guys and is used to winning all the time, so when he starts losing, he tries to make a move on you. He is quite good at rack mechanics as well. We play rack your own because it takes him forever to rack for you, but when he racks for himself he will twist it, leave a gap, etc. He refuses to use the Magic Rack or Accu-rack because he can't rig it.
Stop playing him.
When Kevin gets up to look at the angle it seems an obvious shark move. He was not walking by the table; he had to get up out of his chair.
A guy did the same to me a month ago. Only ball on the table was the 8. I've got a table length 70 degree cut. I point my cue at the corner pocket for a good 2 seconds and bend over. Just then he says "Jeff! Jeff! Did you call the pocket?". I looked at him with the same Shane "WTF??" look and did the same as Shane. I got up, walked over to my chair for a drink of water, took a minute, and then sank the 8. The guy was BS'ing with his teammates, so he honestly might not have seen me point at the pocket. But even if so, he should have just stayed quiet. What are the odds I'm going to pocket the 8 in the wrong pocket and then claim that's what I called?

Maybe Shane needs a break. Maybe the stress of all the high level competition is taking a toll on him. No one is immune to stress and they are kidding them selves if they think they are. It could be any number of things.
Sharking is an unfortunate reality of pool and watching a so called professional player do it is disgusting and I wish there was a penalty for it in refereed professional matches.
I find the admiration Shane has for Earl a contradiction. After watching many of Earl's matches I find him to be a contender for the "King of Sharking" title, which is a shame because he would be a much greater player with out his antics. Yet Shane seems to tolerate it in Earl, but not in others. Go figure.
Any way, Shane is America's best player and he has many accomplishments to feel good about. If I was his coach I would tell him to talk to Efren about coping with sharking, loosing and having a long and healthy career. Better yet, go play in the Pinoy Land for a month. Play while the bugs are on the table, the rooster is crowing, play while the crowds move around you all the time and shout out bets. Now there is some "sharking training"!
I would also tell him to go to Alaska in July for a couple months fishing trip!

I hate that when it happens to me, but watching it happen to the Pros and the reaction is always the same, arms out-stretched, that same look on their faces, makes me LOL everytime
Last year in Qatar Dennis kept arguing over some simple removal of the rack and marking of the ball repeatedly saying "You can't do that, u can't do that"....As a fan, lost a lot of respect
That was even more absurd if you remember what Dennis did right before that moment.
