SVB vs Dennis Orcollo, race to 25 10-Ball

You cant judge everything on one session. Shane can obviously win the set, but he is by no means a clear favorite. As a matter of fact I still think he is the underdog in that match. JMHO

Dennis is the overall better player, such as in safeties and kicking, but Shane is not far behind. They both run out whenever they have a shot. The reason I think it's even money is because Shane has the best 10-ball break in the WORLD, bar none. Dennis has a great break but it's not even close in that department.

Really Mika outbreaks him whenever he gets his break going. SVB has a top 5 or 10 break but we have been witness to some killer breaks. Where does Li Lo wen or the runner up in the us open ten ball's break rank to you. How bout Busty, JA, or Van Van.

NM SVB clearly has the best break hands down its definitely why he will beat Dennis, feel free to post if they play.

You can speculate all you want but in that race, either one of them can win. They have both gambled a ton, both play at a close to God-like level and can both run multiple racks at any given time.. It's not like there is a clear answer..

I think they could play 50 times and one of them might have a slight edge.. Who wins can be speculated all you want but unless they played this race multiple times, it's hard to say who's better.. I'd honestly give the slightest edge to Dennis from what I've seen but that means next to nothing.. It's just my guess..

Shane has consistently had trouble with the top pinoy players, like Alex, Dennis, Lee Van and Francisco. His overall record is not too good against them, but he still keeps trying, and earlier this year scored some nice $$$ wins during the WPC.

Mikey,
You bring up great points about the other players being top shelf in the breaking department.

I wonder if there would be much interest to see a breaking contest, not for speed but for most numbers of balls on the break.

But just in case it comes to pass (Jay, I have Shane for a bet........oh yeah before you ask for a handicap------NO)

I like Shane too in a breaking contest, with just about anyone. Francisco probably still has the best (and strongest) break of any filipino. Oops, Jeff De Luna KILLS them too! He can break as hard (or harder) than Shane but without the same control.

Depnds totally on the day I guess, if I had to lay my money down, I'd pick SVB just because IMO he has the better break of the two. They are both obviously capable of running multiple racks.

Jeff De Luna might have the hardest break on EARTH!! He breaks them way harder than Shane and just about anyone. The point is though in ten ball, that hard break isn't the best. Shane's break is so strong because his speed is optimal for the ten ball break... right around 23-26 miles per hour. Add his control and it's no contest. I still think Shane has the best ten ball break.
But in a contest against those guys like Alex and Dennis, it'll be very hard unless he starts learning how to really kick and safety a little better. It could go either way though, the set could be a clean and cut break and run fest, in which case Shane runs away. If not then stuff starts getting really tough for him...
