Live from the first annual Qlympics in Louisville, which is in progress right now, will come the match many of us have been waiting for.

In one corner, the 10-ball and 2007 U.S. Open champion, Shane Van Boening, sponsored by Lucky Billiards, and in the other corner, WPC and five-time U.S. Open Champion Earl Strickland, sponsored by Gulyassey Cues.

This event will be available LIVE STREAMING pay-per-view for $25. Check out the website for more info: http://www.TheActionReport.com

Many of expressed opinions about this match-up, that Shane is on top of the world right now with his game, and that with Earl's experience and wisdom, he will put on a great performance, one on one with the "South Dakota Kid," as Shane is fondly called.

2 Champions, 2 Days, and 1 winner. $10,000 is up for grabs.

My whole work week has been disrupted with all this pool action going on, but I ain't gonna miss this one. See you on the forums on the 15th. I can't wait! :)

P.S. and edited after the initial post: Who wants to make the lines on this match?!

SVB has probably the best 10-ball break around. If Earl keeps his head then it wont be a blowout, he might even have a chance............

Eric.

lol eric you're saying that if the most talented 9-ball player ever can keep his head then he only might just have a chance? SVB is damn good and i like him a lot, but if he was that much better than earl the rest of the world might as well just give up on pool!

LOL... You kinda have a point...

I am not the biggest fan of Earl, because of the way he acts sometimes....

But Earl is still one of the best ever to play 9 ball....\

Its 9ball race to 100 isnt it?

I think there is gonna need to be 15 to 20 games spot needed to generate action on this match. Im not sure I could bet on Earl getting 15 games to 100 against Shane.

It's 10 ball, race to 100 over 3 days.

I think this will be a very different tempo than say a tournament where one gets knocked out of the event after two matches, like a double elimination format.

Shane's endurance is going to be strong, mainly because of his age, a 24-year-old versus a 46-year-old, in the race to 100.

Earl, by his own admission in a recent interview pertaining to the WPC, is still suffering pain due to kidney stones.

Both players are comfortable in front of the camera, I would say, giving Earl a little bit of an edge over Shane in this arena.

Earl's usual tableside demeanor of speaking will not be a "shark" for Shane because Shane has the ability to tune Earl out completely.

Shane is the current 10-ball champion, so this game is one which he has conquered. Earl is known more as a 9-ball player, but he can play all games, as evidenced by his recent Carolinas Open One-Pocket tournament win.

Neither player will be pressured from having to post up their own dough, which is a bonus for both of them. They can play their game and not have THAT thought running in the back of their mind. It's a free shot at winning a chunk of cheese for both.

Shane is an excellent shot-maker, and I like his offense. Earl, on the other hand, has a strong expertise in offense and defense when it comes to table layouts. I think Earl is a better position player than Shane and may have more wisdom about safety play.

Is the jump stick going to be in effect for this match-up? :D

I think the score will be a lot closer than some may think, but time will tell. Stay tuned until Thursday. One thing for sure, I do not think anyone will be disappointed by the caliber of play. Earl ain't gonna like down and get run over, and neither will Shane. :p

Earl wins. It's 99-99 Shanes break. he breaks and the 1-10 freezes dead in the corner, but Shane is hooked! The push out is too risky because of where they're lined up. He kicks for it and misses leaving Earl the ball in hand 1-10 combo. 100-99 Earl wins.

:D

Match ...

Shane may be still thinking about that 'loss' in Manilla, and I think the score will end up something like 100-84 Shane.

Ooh. That sure was exciting.

Earl hasn't shot his best in years, nothing against him but his time has past, he may be the best ever but no way he can compete with the young dogs anymore

saying he can be great if he gets his act together is like saying the same thing about Mike Tyson, just not gonna happen

It's hill-hill and Shane gives Earl ball in hand on a 'dead' 1-10 combo and SHANE WINS ?????

( this story telling ain't as easy as it looks, is it ? ) :)

Yes Earl is, but I'll still sweat bet $30 with you. I've got Shane. Deal.

i just cant see earl not giving his all for this one. this is the ULTIMATE match for his ego, and to prove a point that this new kid on the block ain't gonna outclass the mighty earl.

a lot of his matches you can sort of see why he can afford to give up and not try because he doesnt have much to prove. but he DOES have to prove himself here though and i think he knows it. which is why i am backing earl to come out all guns blazing for this one. He WILL give his all. he's got to be up for it.

or else i will cry i've got to be honest. nothing would disapoint me more than not seeing him up for this match.

COME ON EARL!

I agree JAM. I think this match is going to be closer than a lot of people think. Earl has something to prove that he's not over the hill and I think he's going to play well however I do think that Shane will win, but I wouldn't be surprised if Earl made it real close!

forget about getting people to take earl even up..thats just pointless and wasting your time...

how about we discuss what kinda of games on the wire spot is needed for earl bettors to step up and do something?

would anyone take earl getting 15 games on the wire?

Good luck. No one on the Earl bandwagon wants to bet. It's purely an empathetic and nostalgic support. I had to give 30 on the wire to even get a sweat bet. I only posted the offers to these people who keep saying Earl can win, but of course they don't want to bet anything on it.

Are you still looking for action? :p

Hey, Kid, wanna play my "mystery boyfriend" a little friendly game of 9-ball? :D :D :D
