SVB vs Orcollo Free Roll brought to you by OB Cues

VIProfessor...Actually it does lie. The break & run averages for the IPT tournaments, for the great players were in the 15-25% range. I think Busty had the highest average at near 40%. Last weekend's tournament at Sandcastle Billiards also showed that the B & R percentages were very low. The best players in the world, on a given day, come up dry on the break, playing 8-ball, around 40% of the time.

Someone posted earlier that the B&R percentage in the 8-ball sets this weekend was upwards of 80%. That's a number that doesn't lie.

Thanks for the correction, big bro! Besides setting the record straight, it makes me feel a lot better about my 8-ball break. :)

I think Justin said he was going to put the match on YouTube...I can't find it, but I'm terrible at that kind of thing. Does anyone know if it's out?

Thanks!

I still plan on it. I have been working on a side job since Monday and will be tied up until this Sunday. When its uploaded I'll post the link.

I can't even imagine what your sleep cycle thinks of you Justin. I hope some of (RIP!) Chad's workload has been taken off you. Take care of yourself, cause you know.... and you have vision and an undeniable passion....

The number is actually even lower... unfortunately the IPT presents their stats in a very confusing way.

There are two "Break and run" percentages. That 42% stat = how many of busty's WINS came by break and run vs. some other method. It doesn't factor in the times he broke dry at all.

He has a break and run average of 27% out of all his games played, but that stat also is misleading because that includes games where his opponent broke and he had no opportunity to B&R.

Unfortunately the IPT stats don't strictly keep track of breaks vs. dry breaks vs. runouts from successful breaks.

In the shane vs. dennis mini-sets, the break and run percentage really WAS much higher than that. Two 7 packs and a 5 pack were seen. I think the announcers said something like... 23/27 were break and run?? Can't recall. But that stat really was near 80%.

So why the big difference between IPT stats and the TAR match?

My guesses:

1. Magic Rack
2. Faster Cloth
3. Two of the straightest shooters in the world

How much dough could you have won here if you'd opened the window with "Less than 75% B & R and you win. My nose is open."???

Maybe they just got lucky tho... ;)

Another contributing factor -- both players practiced/played a lot on that TAR table and found the break location, speed, and hit that worked for them. I.e., they were "dialed in" on that particular table and made a ball on the break with a high frequency, which then led to many B&R's. On the other hand, at the IPT the players normally played on many different tables, which reduces the likelihood of becoming dialed in on the break for any particular match.

Hi!

Just wondering if you will still be uploading this on YouTube? I saw the second half of the stream and it was AMAZING!! Was really hoping to be able to watch the whole match!

Thanks for all you do!
