I know SW has used a few different pins over the years, but can someone tell me when they started numbering their pins?
I am dealing with a cue currently and short of sending it to L. Franklin I wanted to get somewhat informed.
Cue is supposedly from the mid 90's....any possibility of a DPK?
Standard 6 pt. SW look w/o rings at the end of the wrap.
Any input is appreciated.

I was thinking the first #'d pin was in 1993. 301-93 is the first # if I recall correctly.

I could be wrong, it wouldn't be the first time.
 
I'm not sure the first year.

I think you can email or call lori if you really want to know, but I'm pretty sure when they first started doing the numbering that they weren't numbering all of the cues. I think that the plain janes and even some of the more custom cues were not always numbered right after they started serializing them; however, you have to be careful when buying a non serialized SW on the aftermarket because there are a lot of copies and similar designs out there even down to the same pin. Usually the straight up counterfeits have a slightly bezeled knob on the end of the pin and the brass seems to be a lesser quality and is sometimes just electroplated onto other metals...

I think you are right...for some reason I always screw that up. 1996 is when Jerry passed away.

i think your right, i had the 7th cue when they started numbering them, 307-93 it was the ugliest cue ever(Ther did hold some lower non-300 numbers for themselfs) the 300 series were the retail cues having #7 was strong but I needed the $$$, now i wish i never sold it, I knew it was a bad move but i didnt have a choice.

I saw a guy using that cue in earily 94 in LA and he was a real good player who lived in Europe and that cue went to Europe, i moved to LA in sept 93 I was flipping alot alot of cues in late 92 to 93 and thats when the seral number idea popped up in 92, Jerry was getting sick of the knock-off's so he started the numbering system, they tied the numbers to the description of the cue in their data base(it works great) i'm 99% sure it was 93. Jerry told me this in confidence back then, therefore I never put the reason why he started the numbers in the street but since its been so long I dont think Laurie would be upset for me telling the reason why they started the numbers after all these years.

In addition (responding to Op)<========no chance of DPK making a SW in the mid 90's

Thanks for the input. However as stated by Jaden, if not every cue was numbered since 1993, and if I have something that was supposedly build after that, I would imagine sending to Lori would be my best bet.
This is a plain pin in question, small hole, Micarta Ferrule....

Send it to Laurie, anything anyone here posts is basically just a guess considering no one has seen the cue. Besides that if you try to sell the cue, a letter from her will go alot further than "CueDude 69 on AZ said..."
