i think most references to post count refers to the # of posts a person has made, their average per day, etc, in the flame wars when someone is trying to point out how annoying someone is being.

# of posts in a thread often get really high in threads you wouldn't think would be so popular, because sometimes people get off topic. what is this thread supposed to be about again?
