I bought a couple of cubes on here recently. Switched to the BD. I am quite happy with it. It seems to be finer than the Masters Chalk that I am used to using, but ....

It seems to wear down more quickly than the Masters.

Is is true? Or, is it my imagination?

I bought 2 cubes of blue diamond about 8 months ago, and playing three night a week i am almost through the first cube. of course i only chalk every 3rd or 4th shot, the blue diamond seems to hold that well. JMHO

If you brush the cube across the tip and not grind a hole in it , it should last about 2 or 3 months . Hope this helps . good luck
 
I used to go through a cube each week, then I replaced my 20 mm tip to an 11.75 mm tip. Now I go through a cube around every 6 months.
 
New Stroke, really 20mm. tip is that on a broom stick? Well anyway I use only BD leaves less chalk on my table. An it last an last. Skip

Of cource 20 mm would be huge, I had a normal cue, I just folded the edges over the cue and kept them down with a rubber band. Looked like a cool bottle cap. :grin::wink:
 
When I started using BD, my instinct was to chalk as hard as I did with Master. With BD, you don't have to chalk as much and a light brush on stroke is all you need to do when you chalk.
I had chalk dust flying all over the place.
 
I like that you posted a GIANT sized picture of a cube of Blue Diamond ... Just in case we needed a visual :p

I feel like when I use BD, I go through it less quickly than I do Masters. Both have excellent longevity, but BD was slightly ahead of Masters for me.

You don't have a mind for "art," do you? Don'tcha get it? It's like when Andy Warhol made those HUGE pictures of soup cans (in black-and-white, but then "technicolored" them into various colors). The OP wanted to do a variation -- a cube of billiard chalk! And he technicolored it blue. :p

D'oh! I'm such a novice when it comes to "art." Thanks for the lesson, Sean. :thumbup: I'll say this ... The OP must have a hell of a camera, because I can see more of that cube of chalk than I've ever seen before.
 
I've used Master's blue chalk for years. I buy about a gross every other year. I hit over 500 balls a day and some days don't mis-cue once. When I do mis-cue its always because I'm not paying attention where I'm hitting the QB or my bridge is too long and too loose on juice shots. Most of my miscues are from reaching too far instead of getting the bridge or extention on power shots. Blue Diamond might be a better chalk, but not THAT much better $$$$$. Johnnyt

Yeah, I could never read the fine print of ingredients on a Campbell's soup can, but after viewing those Andy Warhol art pieces, I went "whoa(!) -- so *that's* what Campbell's soup is made of!" :D

(J/K on never being able to read the ingredients on the can, obviously.) That is a very fine resolution pic, as you noted. I wonder what setting that camera was on? The "electron microscope" setting? :p

On topic, BD chalk is very good indeed. Whether it's worth $4 a cube (or whatever), really is a question best answered by the folks who use it. I personally use Magic Chalk made in Russia. Hard to find, but when you find it, you buy it in bulk and the cost isn't that bad. It applies evenly with one or two swipes, and sticks very well. And it doesn't "poof" into a dust cloud when you make contact with the cue ball, either.

I was always a Masters chalk man myself, but since switching to...what the hell was the name of it...oh yeah, Blue Diamond, my pocketing percentage has gone up an astounding 43%.
And no more messy chalk stains on my underwear after going to the bathroom at the poolhall either.
Why, it's like I'm not even chalking up my cue tip at all.
So there you have it. Buy Blue Diamond chalk. Your cue will thank you and so will your underwear. ;)
 
I wish I could say that I shot almost 50% better with BD chalk alone.
Don't get fooled by the product here. I used it, like it. For the price I will stick with masters. I do however like the BD yellow wrapped chalk. I think it is more ?? moist? I use that for breaks and jumps only. I bought 3 cubes like a year ago and still have not used up the first one yet. Again, I ust that on a very limited basis.

Well now I've heard it all. Specialized chalk for breaking and jumping. Probably the next thing you're gonna try to tell me is that condoms come in colors. ;)
