table height

Anyone else out there messed around with their tables height? i decided to raise mine 3 inches, it makes its nice to shoot at because its more comfortable and a lot easier on the back for extended play periods. On the other hand, im starting to feel its tougher to shoot on. Im just around 5'11". When my cousin, who is 6'2" comes to shoot, he shoots much better on my table, but if we go to a bar, i shoot better there. I think the raised height gives a slightly tougher perspective on the shot, vs having more of a top view on a standard table. i always shoot worse on my own table, especially in practice, but then again when i go to a standard table anywhere else it feels effortless. though i am considering lowering my table in hopes of making my game more uniform. Anyone else experimented with different heights? thoughts? why are standard tables so short anyways?

It depends on which Bar you are playing. Also which side of the table :p

 my playing surface is about 33inches from the ground with my lifts under there. anyone who comes to shoot at my place notices the first time they lean over the table that its very tall, and unless they are pretty tall they dont shoot well, but it sure is more comfortable after a long day of work. but my question about this is does anyone see that i could be handicapping myself in the sense that everywhere else i shoot im going to have to adjust the stance i have down from my own table? just posting to see if anyone has switched it up before like this

34" height

Tables made in the 1800's, like say a Monarch or my Non Pareliel Novelty, were made 3" higher than the modern playing standard. I believe the lower standard came in effect in early 1900's, like around 1910, give or take.

I took my Non Pareliel Novelty down and stored it, in favor of my Rosewood and Chrome Centennial. Friends always complained playing on the higher table, however I becme accustomed to it. It is much easier on the back, however, it is best to play on the lower as you will play the same at home and away.

Mine is 5.5 inches higher. I love it with my sciatica problems. I have a thread on how I did it in the ask the mechanics section. I'll try to find and link to it later.
