Table light advice

I have a 5x10 Brunswick gold crown snooker table that I will be setting up in our basement. I’ve been looking for a light to hang above it and stumbled upon an older 8’ diamond light for sell. We have 9’ ceilings in the basement. Would the 8’ light work and is it acceptable to hang a diamond light above a gold crown? Really wanted a gold crown light but this seems priced pretty good. Any thoughts?

Nick

You really don't want a pool table light too high because the light goes into your eyes.

Putting a diamond light over a gold crown....a little weird...not the biggest sin.

If you like the look of them perhaps you could get a custom led light like a Littman. He is very good and could make a light for a 5x10. Or you can just hang it a bit higher

I have a 10 ft Diamond table and got one of the Littman Led lights mentioned above. It is 10 ft long and about 25-30 % cheaper than a Diamond light and no wait time. Excellent light. Not the best photo of the light but all I had on me in my phone right now

Yeah, just seems awkward putting the diamond light above a gold crown. Only reason I’m really considering it is because of the price. Asking under $500 for it.

Really like the minimalist look of the Littman light!

Littman or Lite-Systems. Diamond is not bright enough (for me) unless you have supplemental lighting.

Whenever I play pool with my friends I always have a baseball style cap on to block the glare from the light that would go into my eyes. It really makes a difference in focusing on your object ball without that glare interfering.

Don’t even know if I should say this out loud, but could I put Brunswick decals on it?

Why not just put Diamond decals on the pool table? It’s a pool table and a pool table light. I even put Duracell batteries in an energizer flashlight the other day! I’m out of control!

Two LED panels from Home Depot should do the trick. 2x4 ft placed end to end. Lot cheaper than a Diamond light and might be better.

I got a 9ft gold crown. I hung 3 Braun 5000 lumen 4ft lights from Harbor Freight $17 per. $51 total. Never seen a brighter table. Never fixed the old lights.

Nice table! Who cares about the light? I’d play on that in the dark!

As others have said, I'd recommend the Littman light. They have a model that covers 10' tables. I have one for my 9' and it is the best light I have ever played under, hands down.

I have qty 2, 2x4 LED flat panels mounted end to end, flush to my 8' ceiling, over my GC. Super cheap, and I wouldn't want a big bulky traditional light with fluorescent tubes again. I got them on ebay/amazon and hung them myself with a flush mount kit from Amazon. It's all personal preferences with the light. The GC light certainly looks a lot better than the Diamond light, however. They only made them during the GC4 years, I believe.

Traditional lighting (like this for a 9' ft GCI) have the bottom of the bulb bulb within the fixture 36'' above the play surface.
I'd get a traditional 4 light fixture.
Simple, effective with a diverse choice of bulbs for high output lumen choices.
This is my setup.
The fixtures ''do not'' get in the way of the racker or breaker.
Notice no ''glare'' on the seated players in the corners of this 16x20 out building.
