i dont own a pool table and still wanna practice at home when i can so what can i do other than the bottle drill
I disagree with randy on the bottle drill. I have set up a can instead of a bottle on a kitchen table. Make sure the tip only enters the mouth of the bottle, no further than that. Get in your stance an smoothly stroke for three minutes straight! This works on several things.
1st you are ensuring your stroke is straight
2nd you can notice what your wrist is doing
3rd you can also adjust your stance, you will notice how quickly your lower body fatigues if you have a poor stance
4th you really work those muscles in your arm that you use to stroke, your arm will be on fire after about a minute.
Trust me, the bottle drill is helpful in several ways if you use it properly and are aware of what your doing.
I disagree randy. I am in the army. For PT every morning we do a certain exercise where you literally do a continues movement using the tricep with no resistance. After about 100 reps, its on fire!!!!! Trust me. Anyways your arm will fatigue after about a minute of continues stroking. Doing the pendalum back and forth never stopping for 3 minutes will condition the tricep and bicep like you wouldn't believe. If its not on fire, then you must be sitting on the couch watching TV.
When driving I like to practice my stroke. I just make a " military salute" to my chest area. Once again about ten times in a row. Slow motion really helps.
Other SPF Instructors will soon join in here.

When I'm offshore, I take a piece of stainless tubing and just work mother drill #1 except I have no ball. I just focus on completing my stroke, and my PEP also.
The only problem with the bottle drill is that you have to drop your elbow to complete your stroke, I'd rather just work it out w/o the bottle.
Speaking of your arm burning, your not going to get a better stroke workout than using S.S. tubing lol, everyone looks at me crazy out here but it keeps me sharp.

No problem Randy. Its nice to be able to express our opinions without attacking one another like so many do in the main forum.
Nothing wrong with a difference in opinion.
