Hi all,

I've thought about picking up a TAD before and I saw the most beautiful Harvy Martin Tribute from them years ago I still kick myself for not buying. I've called them twice in the last ten years and was told both times they don't take orders and I have to get thru JJ CUE. I'm just wondering can anyone get a custom from TAD? All I want to get is a Harvey martin tribute made with a leather wrap? It's a very simple cue with no inlays at all. Anyone know the story or can anyone tell me how I might get them to make this for me?

F

PS Opinions on how they play as well?

Try contacting J&J and maybe they can commission a cue for you since they are the primary dealer of TAD cues. Here is their phone number, 562-229-9688.

On the play of a TAD cue, I have had about 10 of them mose with piloted steel joints and two with a flat face 3/8 joint and they were all very solid hitters with the piloted cues feeling a little stiffer than the flat face ones.

playability

I own quiet a few Tads, I have tried a lot of other cues, but I do like how they hit. I use one for my evryday cue. It is so well made I never have to worry about it.

 I bought the searing yesterday..and i was looking at TAD's , anything wrong with shopping around buddY? thanks for the concern.

I'm just funning ya ... solly if it came off bad ....

Now that I apologized, let me know if you wanna buy a Tad ... I got two .. one in 2k range and one in 4k range. More fancy than Martin type though.

That cue is not that custom. It was part of Tad's line (flat white joint with red phenolic ring). I assume this is what you are talking about?

JJ has a cue that's close. 1-M-1 shown as available right now on their web site. The joint/shaft ring combo is reversed from Martin and you'd have to have someone (I know a guy who's pretty good at it) swap the wrap out, and then you'd have to accept that classic Tad butt treatment instead of Martin's. Come to think of it, maybe the 1-M-1 is that close after all.

I kick myself for missing out on that Harvey Martin tribute cue from TAD also. Then again, I didn't join AZB until after it was sold. As mentioned earlier, it was part of TAD's catalog line up until sometime in the early to mid 1980's from what some people have said. No exact confirmation on that, but those cues were seen up until then. Not many around now, sad to say.

As kvinbrwr mentioned, the TAD-1-M-1 maybe the closest you'll get to having one made. I haven't talked to J&J directly about commissioning a cue, but there doesn't seem to be much interest from TAD regarding interaction with the public other than maintenance/repair work. Even then, I was only able to really talk to Fred rather than Tad himself when I was there in person a few months back.

Oh the joy that would light up in so many faces with the thought that their dream cue were within reach!!!
